She was born to Joseph Arthur and Mary Thorpe Gilson on June 8, 1922, in Malad, Idaho. At age 6, the family moved to Rockland, where she attended grade school at the Central School. She attended high school in Rockland, and on November 6, 1937, she married Virgil William Schmett in Pocatello, Idaho. To this union was born two sons, Bobby Lee and James Virgil, and two daughters, Janice and Mary Joann. In 1946-47, they built the Rockland Cafe. While living in Rockland, June was active in bridge clubs, bowling leagues and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After Virgil's sudden death on July 22, 1967, June continued to operate the cafe with the help of daughters and son. In 1976, she sold the cafe and moved to American Falls, where she received her real estate license and went to work for American Falls Realty. She married Gene Fogerson on November 30, 1978, in Reno, Nevada. She resided in American Falls until the time of her death. While in American Falls, she and Gene had been actively involved in the American Falls Golf Association. Survivors include her husband, Gene Fogerson; a son, Bobby Lee (Fran) Schmett of American Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Janice (Michael) May of Henderson, Nevada, and Joann (Terry) Rawson of Boise, Idaho; a stepson, Steve Fogerson of El Paso, Texas; and stepdaughter, Grace (Gene) Livingston of Pocatello, Idaho; and step-daughter-in-law, Lynn Fogerson of American Falls, Idaho; two brothers, Mert (Margaret) Gilson of American Falls, Idaho, and Bob (Gladys) Fogerson of Woodburn, Ore.; and a sister, JoAnn Scott of Yuba City, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, George Farrell and Joseph Arnold Gilson, a son, James Virgil, and stepson, James Fogerson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2000, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rockland Ward Chapel, with Bishop Stan Schmidt presiding, and Bishop Michael May conducting. Interment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Rockland. The visitation will be tonight, Thursday, November 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Davis Mortuary, 170 Idaho St., American Falls.
