He was born January 17, 1918, in Malad, a son of Thomas and Ruth Jones Dives. He graduated from Malad High School and later attended Utah State University. He married Lorraine Blaisdell June 15, 1938, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. For many years Ren worked on the family ranch and also managed the Dives Furniture Store. He served in the Air Force during World War II, and was a member of the Malad Lions Club and American Legion. Ren was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he had served in various church callings. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and was a member of the Malad Community Choir. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Malad; five children, Colleen (Allen) Graves of Castle Rock, Colorado, Linda (Brent) Call of Aliso Viejo, California, Larry (Cindy) Dives of Malad, Nancy (David) Decker of Oak Hill, Virginia, Michael Dives of South Ogden, Utah; 30 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margie Pierce of Aberdeen, Idaho, Iva Lou (Phil) Young of Blackfoot, Idaho, Verlene (Jack) Williams of Malad. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alicia Bingham, one brother, Tommy Dives, and a daughter, Connie Budge. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Tuesday evening, April 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
