He was born the third child of 13 to Noah James and Esther Hall John. He married his first sweetheart, Sara Emma Richards on June 23, 1936 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three children, Delorise (Kennard) Hales of Tremonton, UT; S. Jay (Christina) John of Carlin, NV and E. Marie (Kyle) Hughes of Bountiful, UT. His wife, Sara, passed away March 14, 1943. He later married Hilda Schwartz on February 15, 1945; she died Sept. 28, 2001. They had one daughter, Sylvera Kay (Dale) Claiborne of Brunswick, Georgia, who passed away Sept. 25, 2002. Sylvera was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in several callings. He lived a full and happy life. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, wives, one grandson, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by many loving family and friends Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Friends may call at Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
