Surnames: Smith, Richards, Lythgoe, Drevo Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qg.2ADE/259 Message Board Post: The Standard Examiner, Wed, Apr 10, 2002 WASHINGTON TERRACE - Dillon Smith passed away at the age of 87 on Sunday, April 7,2002 at McKay-Dee Hospital.He was born June 9, 1914 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Albert I. and Charlotte Richards Smith. Dillon married Rilla Lythgoe in June of 1935. They were later divorced. He married Blanche Drevo on October 9, 1953. Dillon proudly served our country as an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver for Swift and Company in Ogden for 23 years, and with Consolidated Freightways for 10 years. Dillon traveled over two million miles with no accidents. He was a member of the LDS church. Dillon was a very kind and gentle man with a great love for children. He will truly be missed. He is survived by three sons and one daughter; Ross (Helen) Smith, Denver, CO; Shirley Campbell, Bonner Springs, KS; Darrell (Trina) Nitz, Clinton; Robert (Lezlee) Smith, Layton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by a sister, Donna Penrod of Ogden, and one brother, Norman Smith of Nevada. Dillon was preceded in death by his wife Blanche, seven brothers, two sisters, one daughter, and a grandson. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12th at 1 p.m. at Lindquist"s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from Noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist"s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
