Husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters and other relatives and friends left behind feel the loss of her passing. She was born June 27, 1915, at Chesterfield, Idaho, to Arthur and Ivalue Loveland Ruger, and grew up in the Bancroft area, where she attended school. She graduated from Albion State Normal School in 1937. While there, she met Wayne Nielsen. They were married on January 29, 1938, in Pocatello, and were later sealed in the Logan, Utah temple on March 24, 1967. They have three children, Andrea (Wiley) Watkins of Pasadena, Maryland, Don Wayne (Joyce) Nielsen of Mission Viejo, California, and Ivalue (Dale) Hatch of Arimo, Idaho. They also have 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Elda was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions in the organizations of the church. She spent many years serving in the Relief Society as counselor in the presidency, ward president and counselor in the Stake Relief Society presidency. She also was a faithful visiting teacher all of her adult life. A special event she always cherished was the time she was able to accompany several sisters in the stake to sing at Relief Society Conference held at the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. She taught second grade in Iona from 1937-38, kindergarten in Lava for many years, and as a substitute teacher in Lava and at Marsh Valley High School. Through the years her students have come to visit her and have good memories about her influence as a teacher. Family was always first in her life. She was a dedicated, supportive wife to a busy husband. She wanted her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her as much as possible. Nieces and nephews loved to stay at "Aunt Elda's." She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Phyllis, and a brother, Arthur. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Arimo LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Horsley's Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Drive, Arimo, this evening, Tuesday, March 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Malad Cemetery.
