She was born in Freedom, WY June 23, 1912, a daughter of Charles Franklin and Martha Vinnie Merritt Kirkbride. She married Harley Mendenhall Handy June 12, 1934 in the Logan LDS Temple. Harley passed away Oct 25, 2002. Lorraine had lived in many towns in Utah and Idaho. Smithfield, Dayton, Preston, ID, Logan, Brigham City, Moab, Ibapah, UT, Fort Hall, Malad, Shoshone, ID, Monticello, Fillmore, Roy/Mesa, AZ, and Layton, UT. She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life, serving in various positions, including Relief Society presidency. Lorraine was a nurse's aide, a Pink Lady, floor supervisor and boarded college students. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, crochet/embroidery, sewing and having everything in its place. Surviving are two sons, Harley K. (Joyce) Handy, Mesa, AZ, James Franklin Handy, Payson, UT; one daughter, Susan Beth (Dean) Bennett, Syracuse, UT; three brothers, Lorus L. Kirkbride, Pleasanton, CA, R. Billie (Mary) Kirkbride, Clearfield, UT, Ron-ald M. (Eleanor) Kirkbride, Ogden; three sisters, Norma Knudson, Ardella (Purser) Bosworth, Preston, ID, Vera May Pinson, Smithfield, UT; and the pride of her life, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband, Harley Han-dy; and son, Michael Handy; and four brothers, Franklin C., Charles D, James E., Samuel K. Kirkbride. Services will be 11 a.m. Thurs. March 13, 2003 Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Viewing will be Thurs. 9:45-10:45 a.m. only prior to services. Interment, Franklin, ID, 3 p.m. Thurs.
