She was born December 29, 1915 the 12th of 13 children in Malad, Idaho to Martin and Ruth Ann Thomas Goddard. She married Chester Roderick Bailey of Malad on July 23, 1934; together they raised a family of six children and leave a posterity of 94. Chet passed away February 23, 1980. Jennie had always worked in the restaurant business in the Magna area; The Joker for six years, then in 1957 she leased and managed the Hi-Way Café, and for several years after managed the Utah Copper Club house. She was well known as an excellent cook and made the best soup and pies in town. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her kids until her health began to fail. She was a member of the LDS church and life long member of the VFW Post 7398 Ladies Auxiliary. Jennie is survived by one sister, June Thomson, of Odessa, TX; one son, Bill Bailey; two daughters, Sherrie (Paul) Christison and Joan (Dick) Pearce; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Bailey; 27 grandchildren; 61 great grand-children; three great-great grand-children; and a lot of special nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Chet; two infant babies, Fred and Jannice; three sons, Gene, David, and Johnny; grandson, David Brent Jr.; son-in-law, Buck Christison; five brothers and six sisters. The family would like to express a special thanks to Ruth Ann and all the staff at Care Source for their kindness and support. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2003 at the Magna East Stake Center, 2840 South 8000 West, where friends may call both Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 12-12:45 p.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
