Ward, 90, died March 12, 2003, at a local care facility. She was born January 16, 1913, in Hyrum, Utah, to John Carl and Annie E. Nielsen. She spent her growing up years in Pocatello Valley, which is near Malad, and in Malad. She graduated from Malad High School. She married her high school sweetheart, William G. Ward, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 28, 1935. Because of her husband's work in school administration, they lived in Holbrook, Idaho, Afton, Wyoming, American Falls, Soda Springs, Idaho Falls, Preston, and Pocatello, Idaho. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an excellent secretary, which she did most of her married life. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and LaDessa Clubs, in which she served as secretary. She worked for several years as an extraction worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held several positions in the church. She was very conscientious and reliable. Whenever she was asked to do a job, it was done to perfection. Her membership in the church was priceless. She enjoyed her family. Camping was a favorite activity for her and her loved ones. She was a good cook, and loved traveling and embroidery. She was a very kind and thoughtful person. She is survived by two children, Dr. C. Gordon (Ann) Ward of Idaho Falls, and DeOnne (Orin Dru) Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Julie (Kenneth) Johnson and David (Holly) Ward of Idaho Falls, Robert (Kimberlee) of Pocatello, Douglas (Jamie) Ward of Vancouver, Washington, James and Richard Ward of Idaho Falls, and Sara Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday March 17, 2003, at the Alameda First Ward LDS Chapel in Pocatello, on the corner of East Walnut Street and Jefferson Avenue, with Bishop Bart Reed conducting. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello, Idaho.
