She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Malad, Idaho, the daughter of Lawrence Daniel and Alice Marie Covert Jones. She served her country during World War II as a Navy Wave stationed in Kansas. While serving in the military, she met LeRoy James Ward while dancing -- something that they always loved to do. They were married on March 30, 1944, in Hutchison, Kan. She loved to play golf and was the club champion. She enjoyed playing cards and was a life masters in bridge. She loved playing the piano and played for many years at the Presbyterian Church in Preston. She won many bowling tournaments. She earned a bachelor's degree in business from Tulsa University and worked for the Acock Insurance Agency in Preston for many years. She is survived by her husband, Jim of Preston; three daughters and one son, Barbara (Jed) Dunkley, Las Vegas, Nev., Susan (Harold) Smith, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Beverly (Marc) Banner, Boise, Idaho, and Jimmy (Kym) Ward, Franklin, Idaho; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Julia (K.P.) Thomas, Las Vegas, Nev. She was preceded in death by her parents; by two sisters, Jean Byrd and Jane McMillan; and by a brother, Larry Jones. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m. in the Preston Community Church, 210 E. 200 North, Preston, with Reverend Scott officiating. Services are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
