As the sun set, Dorothy was surrounded by her loving husband and three daughters. Dorothy was born February 27, 1928, in Malad City, Idaho, the daughter of Mary Owen and George Stuart. Dorothy met her sweetheart, Barney Lewis, in high school and upon his return from the war, they married March 9, 1947, at the Lewis Ranch. While Barney attended the University of Idaho they started their family. This adventurous couple raised their daughters, Linda, Suzi and Debby in Idaho’s wilderness during the summers at guard stations above Stanley. Upon graduating from the university, they began their family life in Fruitland and moved to Boise in 1954. Dorothy’s working career centered around bookkeeping, accounting and customer services. Barney and Dorothy moved to five acres south of Meridian 25 years ago and created their own retreat with beautiful gardens filled with flowers, trees and birds. As a result of this shared interest, they established Owyhee View Pheasantry, where they successfully raised numerous species of pheasants. They had many opportunities to travel and develop national friendships with other aviary-dedicated people working for the preservation of endangered species. Our spirited wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law is survived by husband, Barney J. Lewis; daughters, Linda (Duane) Stands; Suzanne Lewis, and Deborah Lewis; grandchildren, Stacey (Mickey), Brady (Kelly), Jason (RoBen), Nathan, Megan and great-grandson Austin; sister, Margene (Calvin) Criddle and brother, Verlin (Joy) Stuart; a uncle Clair Owens; three aunts, Ella Apgood, Edith Udy, and Beth Scrafford, and her large and loving extended family.
