Rachel was born Dec. 22, 1922 in Samaria, Idaho to Henry J. Thomas and Mary Ann Jenkins. She was the sixth born of nine children. She attended school in Samaria. She worked at Hill Field in the engine repair shop during World War II. She married Eldred A. Marshall in Elko, Nevada Nov 8, 1947. They lived in Ogden. They had two daughters and one son. Her husband died Dec. 18, 1959. This left her with three young children to raise on her own. Her son, Tom, preceded her in death. She worked in the Lunch Program for the Ogden School District for ten years.She was a member of the L.D.S. Church. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Rhodes (Kevin), West Weber; and LouAnn Baldwin, Ogden; five grandchildren, Dustin Rhodes, Nichole (Carl) Spraw, Cy, Seth and Caleb Baldwin; and three great-grandchildren, D.J., Freedom, and Tanner. Also surviving are two sisters, Twila Silvester, Ogden; and Leah Jones, Blackfoot, ID. Rachel was a kind mother and grandmother. She loved watching the Jazz. She knew all the names of the players in baseball and basketball. She loved to walk, read books, gardening, crossword and taking care of her grandchildren. Her entire family will miss her teasing nature and stories of Bloody Bones. Bloody Bones will be missed. Friends and family are invited to join together at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. on Thursday, April 10, 2003 from 10 to 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Samaria Cemetery, Samaria, Idaho.
