Thomas 10/24/02 Email this story to a friend LA VERNE, Calif. — Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and good friend passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Hurricane, Utah, and has returned to her Heavenly Father. She was born June 14, 1910, in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Richard E. Owens and Sarah Little Owens. She married her sweetheart, Harold E. Thomas on Nov. 25, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in Jan. 20, 1978. They were married for 51 years. She enjoyed her role as a wife and homemaker, loved handiwork and crafts. Her family and especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of the La Verne Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she lived to serve the Lord and her family and friends, whom she loved. One of her services where she found the greatest joy and love was as a temple worker at the Los Angeles Temple (1986-2002). She is survived by two sons, H. Earl (Lona) Thomas, Hurricane, Utah, Ross M (Cheryl) Thomas, Placentia, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Patti, Jeanette, Traci, Evan, Chad, Mark, Martin, and Natalie; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Isabelle (Reed) Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Thomas, brothers, Richard, Jack, Robert, Jedd and Stanley Owens. A memorial service was held Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at 11 am at the La Verne, California Second Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held Saturday, October 26, 2002, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Horsley's Marsh Valley Funeral Home (Arimo). Following the viewing, a graveside burial service will be at the Downey City Cemetery at noon. This wonderful "Daughter of God" will be greatly missed by all who knew her. All of us will get fewer cards and letters — maybe each of us can send a few more to replace hers.
