She was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Bancroft, Idaho, the daughter of Moses and Lois Rawlins Croney. She graduated from Lava High School in 1936. She married Matthew Hill on Dec. 23, 1937, in Malad, Idaho. She devoted many years of her life to rearing and nurturing her children and helping her husband farm and raise cattle on the family homestead in Elkhorn. She often cooked for the hay men and was well known for her fried chicken. Later, she was employed for more than 10 years at Scott Land and Title as a legal secretary. She was a longtime member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bowling, gardening, music and dancing, camping and cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Gary (Kathryn) Hill of Malad, Stephen (Thella) Hill of Malad, Colleen (Val) Bulow of Thatcher, Utah, Teri (Ed) Ahrens of Boise, Idaho, Tammy (James) Slagowski of Lehi, Utah; one sister, Ethel Rowsell of Grace, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Matthew, her sons, Kenneth (infant) and Robert, her daughter, Kaye, her sisters, Oclella, Maude, Mabel, Elsie, Veda and one brother, Samuel. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2002, at noon at the Malad LDS Stake Center, 1250 North 1100 West (St. John). The family will receive friends tonight, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery, St. John, Idaho.
