Verna was born on October 11, 1906 in Elwood, Utah to Andrew Christian and Margaret Petersen Romer. Her family later moved and homesteaded in Stone, Idaho. They later returned to Elwood. She met and married Heber R. Mortensen in June 1928 in Ogden, Utah. They farmed in Elwood and later divorced. She married Leonard C. Daley in Elko, NV in the summer of 1955; they later solemnized the marriage in the Los Angles Temple in November of 1966. They lived in Bellflower, California and later returned to Utah to the Roy area. Leonard died on December 23, 1980. Verna really enjoyed handwork and won many first place awards at the Utah State Fair for that. She also enjoyed traveling and eating out, and gardening. Her real love was her family and children. She is survived by a daughter LuRae Privett, Kearns, Utah; a son Wynn Mortensen, Corinne, Utah; a sister Lydia Hill, Elwood, Utah; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, and a son, H. Ralph Mortensen; 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren, Alan Boyd Privett and Pauline Mortensen, and 2 step great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. Friends may call Wednesday, February 12, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
