The son of Ephraim Thorpe and Jennette Thomas Thorpe, "Tommy" was born on May 27, 1912, in Malad City, Idaho. He married Lila Ann Gibson July 2, 1939, and their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on July 2, 1959. They are the parents of five children. Tommy lived a full and active life, which centered on his family, his church, his business and his community. Tommy was known throughout Malad Valley for his honesty, integrity and friendly manner. He operated a successful petroleum business, "Tommy's Service," for 30 years. He was a steadfast member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities in his ward and stake. He was an outstanding missionary, and served many stake missions with his wonderful wife, Lila. Tommy served on the Malad Valley Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He was affiliated with the Malad Senior Citizens Center for nearly 30 years. His life of "service to others" will be sorely missed throughout his home, and throughout the valley. Tommy's life of unconditional love and happy memories with his family and with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the happiest times of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lila; daughters, Karen (Charles) Hyer, Paula Brennan, Nancy (Farrell) Christoffersen; and sons, Tom (Brenda) Thorpe and Tim Thorpe. Also surviving him are a brother, Neil Thorpe, and a sister, Donna Hansen; 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim and Jennette Thomas Thorpe, and brothers, Ephraim, Loren, Clem, William, Cenius and sisters, Mary Nielsen, Nadine Udy, Lela Doutre and Ruth Smith. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at noon in the Malad Fourth Ward, 20 S. 100 West in Malad. Friends may call Wednesday evening, Feb. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Horsley Funeral Home, 146 W. 300 N., Malad, and Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Horsley Funeral Home prior to services. Graveside services will be at Malad City Cemetery.
