He was born October 26, 1906, in Malad, Idaho, a son of John and Rosa Stalder Bishoff. He received all of his formal schooling at the Pauline School in Arbon Valley. At the age of 17 he was taking care of himself. He started working with his father and brothers on the farm in Arbon Valley. On April 27, 1931, he married Esther Lusk in Pocatello. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple on August 12, 1949. Esther passed away December 27, 2001. They farmed and ranched in Tyhee before they bought their ranch on Marsh Creek in McCammon in 1939. They operated the ranch until 1965. When they sold the ranch, they built a home in McCammon. He then worked for the Bannock County Road and Bridge Department for several years, retiring in 1971. They lived in their home in McCammon until 2000. Then they moved to Blackfoot for assisted care. He served on the Bannock County Planning and Zoning Board for several years as well as the McCammon Rodeo Committee. He was active in the LDS Church. He served as ward financial clerk for several bishops, a home teacher and was a high priest. He enjoyed the animals on the ranch, and fed his livestock with teams of horses, reminding us of an era gone by. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, leather work, gardening and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son, John P. (Gay) Bishoff, Annabella, Utah; three daughters, Gloria (Eugene) Anderson, Logan, Utah, Marlene (Calvin Leon) Rowsell, Blackfoot, Idaho, Karen Gladwin, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, three sisters and two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the McCammon LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Wayne Wiegman of the McCammon Ward officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, Aug. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
