He was born in St. John, Malad, ID November 5, 1930, the son of Thomas J. and Martha Thomas Lewis. He attended school in Malad, ID, graduating in 1949. He married Helen Rae Hawkins in the Idaho Falls Temple August 24, 1951. They were divorced in 1984. He farmed in St. John and worked at Hadfield Ford Garage in the parts dept. In 1961 he worked at Tremonton Motor, buying into the company in 1968, he moved back to Malad to go into the Ford and Implement business, with Wally and Elsie Sperry. He had many friends at Malad, Tremonton, and Ogden and the business grew into New Holland Implement as well as many other outlets. He retired from the business in 1990. Since retiring, he has been water master for St. John and MVI irrigation companies. For eight years Boyd served on the Oneida County Fairboard, from 1984-5 he served as President of the State Fair Circuit Racing Association. He also served on the FHA board. Boyd was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Malad 1st Ward Bishopric. He was a Sunday school teacher for many years working with the youth and also worked in the Scouting program in the Garland 1st and Malad 1st Wards. He is survived by 6 children: Willaim Boyd (Alyce) Lewis, Great Falls, MT; Bonnie (Lamonte) John, Burke, VA; Lucinda (Denver) Sweeten, Malad, ID; Sid E. (Lisa) Lewis, Malad, ID; David Brent (Michelle) Lewis, Bountiful, UT; Tiffany Sue (David) Jeppsen, Moscow, Russia. 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. 3 sisters: Dorothy (John) Owens, Scottsdale, AZ; Verna Harris, Ogden, UT; Elsie Sperry, Malad, ID; 2 brothers: Thomas H. (Afton) Lewis, Malad, ID; Gary M. (Marilyn) Lewis, Concord, CA. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister Anona VanderHeide, and grandson Hawkin Sweeten. Boyd had a love for the outdoors and farm life which he taught his children to love also. Boyd was a beloved father and friend, he will be greatly missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2001 in the Malad LDS 6th Ward chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N., Malad, on Wednesday evening December 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John, Idaho Cemetery.
