She was born April 20, 1913 in Malad, ID to James William Blaisdell and Ann Iona Bingham Blaisdell. She was raised in Holbrook and Malad, ID. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Education. While serving in the Women's Army Corps (with a rank of Captain) during World War II, she met James Booth Ferris at Camp Bowie, Texas, where they were both stationed. She married Jim Jan 26, 1946. After the war, they settled in Salt Lake City, UT. They had three daughters and eventually seven grandchildren. Mom was proud of her accomplishments, which included teaching children, serving her country through military service, and raising three independent and strong daughters. She taught by her example. We were blessed to be her daughters and grandchildren. She was loved and respected by family, neighbors, and friends. She will be missed so much. LaPreal was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brother, Orlan Blaisdell; and son-in-law, George Moyer. She is survived by her three daughters: Barbara Ferris, Susan (Ed) Kupchunas, and Kathleen (Michael Lacey) Ferris. Missing her also will be her seven grandchildren, Michael Moyer, Marci Moyer (Brad) King, Brett Moyer, Abbie Moyer, Laura Moyer, Roarke Lacey, and Colin Lacey. She is survived also by her brothers and sisters-in-law: J. Waldo and Lois Blaisdell, James P. and Wanda Blaisdell, Ray and Frances Blaisdell, and Lucille Blaisdell Keene. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at 12 noon in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr., where friends and family may visit Wednesday, Jan. 2nd from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
