Louise Jones MALAD - Myrtle Louise Jones, 80, of Malad, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003, in Logan, Utah. Louise was born May 23, 1923, in Charleston, West Virginia, the only daughter of Oliver and Gretchen Wears Long. She attended school in Charleston and later Ohio. At the age of 21 she enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and later received three commendations, including one from the Ground Forces Reserve. She served in the Adjutant Generals Department in Ohio, and later worked in the Southwestern City Schools in Grove City, Ohio. Following the death of her second husband, Thomas Sheets, Louise moved to the Ogden, Utah area. It was there that she met and married Avon L. Jones, and they resided there for 17 years. While in Ogden she worked for the IRS and GSA offices. Louise and Avon moved to Cherry Creek, Idaho, just south of Malad in 1986. She took her ambitions to the kitchen, where she put her "all" into cooking and feeding her many friends in the valley. Her mouth-watering baked goods and plates of goodies will be missed. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Oliver Long, stepfather, Leo Benz and her second husband, Thomas Sheets. She will be missed and remembered by her devoted husband, Avon L. Jones, who survives her; and her many friends and family. Louise was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, where friends may call on Saturday from 10:30 until service time.
