Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/OneidaObits/83 Surname: Lewis, Harris, Jones ------------------------- Idaho State Journal, Tuesday, 02/13/01 BOUNTIFUL, Utah Catherine (Katie) Harris Lewis, 87, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2001, at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. She was born August 29, 1913, in St. John, Idaho, the daughter of Archibald and Mary Mae Jones Harris. She married Theras Evans Lewis on December 3, 1934. Theras died October 16, 1973. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah temple July 20, 1965. Katie attended school in St. John and Malad. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1931. She was active in the LDS Church, and served in several positions. She was known for her wit and sense of humor. She loved to write poetry, and had a few of her poems published in the Childrens Friend. She worked for a short time for Thiokol Corporation, and for the Malad Soil Conservation office as a secretary and bookkeeper. She lived most of her life in St. John, Idaho. The last 18 years she had resided at Heritage Place in Bountiful, Utah. We thank those that took such good care of her while she lived at Heritage Place. She will be missed by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Gordon (Kathleen) Lewis of Boulder, Colorado; a daughter, La Ree Sperry of Malad; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Orpha Harris Hal of Mountain Home, Idaho, Maisie Harris Williams of Malad, Idaho, and Bonnie Harris Giles of Bountiful, Utah; and brother-in-law, Keith Evans of Malad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theras, parents, sisters, Millie Courtney and Rula Evans, and son-in-law, Craig Sperry. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at Benson-Horsley Funeral Home. Friends may call at the mortuary tonight, Tuesday, February 13, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
