She was born three miles west of Cherry Creek in what was called "The Point" Oneida County, Idaho, on October 21, 1921, the seventh of 10 children to Franklin Oliver and Mary Ann Dalton Madsen. Faye was raised on the ranch at "The Point" and attended school in Samaria, Idaho. She graduated from the eighth grade, but was unable to complete her schooling as she was needed at home to do everyday chores and nurse her sick mother. On March 28, 1941, Faye married Charles Welton Ward. They settled in Woodruff, where she started her life as a farm wife, homemaker and mother. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah temple on November 23, 1959. Faye and Charlie had 49 years together before he passed away on October 7, 1990. Faye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Malad Fifth Ward. As a member of the Cherry Creek Ward and later the Malad Fifth Ward, she served many church callings in the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary organizations. She served many years in the Malad Stake Genealogical Library, and also worked in the home extraction program. She enjoyed this work very much, and assisted many people in tracing their family history. She also served a two-year mission as a stake missionary for the Malad, Idaho stake. Family always came first with Faye. She was always there for her brothers and sister, their families and especially for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If she had to give and you needed it, you could have it. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. If you went to Faye's home or a family function and left there hungry, it was your own fault. Faye is survived by one brother, DeWayne, of Granite Falls, Wash.; two daughters and two sons, Charles Owen (Jane Ann) Ward, Joan Faye (Gordan) Williams and Helen (Judd) Ravsten, all of Malad, and Dale Frank (Martha) Ward of Brigham City, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Judd's three daughters, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she claimed as her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her daughter, Marjorie, her parents, her sister, Ruby Merrill, and seven brothers, Albert, Leland, Franklin Dee, Boyd, Reed, Ray and Clifford Dalton Madsen. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at the Malad Fifth Ward, 20 S. 100 W., Malad City, Idaho. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad City, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening, Tuesday, Jan. 15, and 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
