Surnames: Lloyd, Rice, Anderson, Reed Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qg.2ADE/603 Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 07/18/03 SODA SPRINGS -Blanche Rice Reed Lloyd, our loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, with her family at her bedside. Blanche was born in Malad on June 24, 1919, to Annie Anderson Rice and Jerimiah Rice. She was the eldest of nine children. She was raised and educated in Malad and the surrounding area. In 1936, she married Theodore Raymond Reed in Malad. Their children are Anna Lee Lloyd, Blackfoot, Marilyn Stoltenberg, Auburn, Wyo., and Teddy Ray Reed, Idaho Falls. During World War II the family moved to California, where she and Ted worked in defense plants. After the war, they moved back to Malad for a period of time before settling in the Swan Valley, Palisades area in 1955. Throughout her life Blanche served in many positions in the LDS Church. She was employed at the U.S. Post Office and General Store in the Palisades area. After Ted passed away in 1978, she stayed in Palisades for a few years working for the Forest Service. In 1980, after becoming the bride of Oliver Lloyd, she moved to Soda Springs. After the passing of Oliver in 1984, Blanche kept busy with all of her activities including: Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, bowling and the Senior Citizen Center as an employee and volunteer, along with all of her grandchildren's ball games, plays and recitals. She had also enjoyed spending time with her dear friend, Clyde Weaver, and all of her various special stepchildren, especially Lanett and Don Ayers. Blanche had many diverse interests including collections of dolls, teddy bears, shaving mugs, coins, Indian arrowheads, chicken figurines, ceramic eggs and crystal figurines. Blanche is also survived by a brother, Arch Rice of Preston; a sister, Mary Lou Owens of Lancaster, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five stepchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the Soda Springs LDS First and Fifth Ward Chapel (Third East and Fourth South), with Bishop Rhett Price officiating. The family will meet with friends this evening, Friday, July 18 from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Sims Funeral Home and on Saturday at the ward chapel from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
