He was born the eighth of ten children to George LeRoy and Elvera Otensen (Lake) Stone, March 23, 1936, in Malad, Idaho. Arnold graduated from Pocatello High School in 1955. He furthered his education, receiving his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1971. From there he went on to the FBI Academy, graduating in 1978. Arnold married Charlotte Clark, and they had two children, Valerie and Steve. They were later divorced. He married Carol Jane Eldredge in Pocatello June 3, 1969, and they were blessed with two children, Randy and Shawna. Arnold retired after serving 21 years for the City of Chubbuck as chief of police. He also worked at Idaho State University in public safety. He was a member of the Bannock County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attending the 37th Ward. He loved horses, cattle, camping, fishing and hunting. Arnold was a great storyteller and enjoyed making people laugh. He was very much a family man, giving and generous. He is survived by his wife, Carol Jane Stone, Pocatello; children, Valerie Ann Pierce, Kenai, Alaska; Steven ( Paula) Stone, Pocatello; Randy Charles (Kate) Stone, Smithfield, Utah; Shawna (Dale) Cureaga, Ketchum, idaho; brothers, Dennis Charles (Lois) Stone, Pocatello; Orgil (Thelma) Stone and Oren (Carla) Stone, Ogden, Utah; sisters, Anna Benson, Sandy, Utah; Eudora Anderson, Weston, Idaho;and Audrey Veibell, Ogden, Utah; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Verda Mae Stone; brothers, Raymond and Joseph Stone. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2001, at the LDS 37th Ward in Chubbuck with Bishop Barry Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m today, Jan. 21, 2001, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Interment will follow at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery in Lava Hot Springs. An honor guard will be provided by the Bannock County sheriff’s office, Pocatello police and Chubbuck police.
