I'm interested in this obituary because of the name Parley Morgan ...and the place Malad, Idaho. My great grandfather George Morgan lived and died in Malad, Idaho. His father, Dr. Josep Williams Morgan (J.W.) also lived and died in Malad. Somewhere in there was a brother or cousin named Parley H. Morgan, son of Benjamin Morgan. They lived in Youngstown, Ohio. I wondered where the name Parley and Morgan came from. Do you have any idea? Thank you, LeaMarie (Morgan) Robertson

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Evans, Gomes Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qg.2ADE/288 Message Board Post: Glade A. Evans 06/21/02 Email this story to a friend ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Glade Albert Evans was born July 10, 1933, in Downey, Idaho, resident of Rocklin, Calif., passed away after a brief illness in Roseville, Calif., on June 1, 2002. Glade was the loving son of John O. and Gladys Evans of Malad, Idaho, and husband of Janet Gomes Evans of Rocklin, Calif. Glade loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and shared that love with his sons and grandchildren. Only days before his death he had returned from a fishing trip to British Columbia with his sons, an adventure that he had looked forward to for years. His proclivity for tinkering led to some interesting fix-it adventures. His long-standing love for the game of golf notwithstanding, he admitted to the end that he never got the best of that game. Glade is survived by his wife, Janet, of Rocklin, Calif.; his children, Scott, of Wildwood, Ill., and Bruce (Laura), of Longview, Texas; stepchildren, Julie Hendershott of Seattle, Wash., and Curt (Korbi) Gomes of Roseville, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeff (Scott), Erica and Katie (Bruce), Brad (Julie), Brianna, Kara and Nicole (Curt); brothers and sisters, Merrill (GenaLee), Larry (Karen), Carolyn (Milton), Norman (Sally), Dean (Mary), Jack (Risee), Judy (Reed), Sam and Kathy (Wayne). Glade was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan, his father, John O. Evans and his sister, Lucille Evans. The legacy of Glade Albert Evans is the honor and integrity that he displayed in his life, and that which he taught his children. The love and caring that he shared with all who crossed his path will live on in the lives that he touched. For those of us that knew and loved him, we can only be thankful for the experience. Memorial services will be held in Malad, Idaho, following the funeral service of his mother, Gladys Evans.

    3. I have noticed that so many people from this area die of cancer. My wife's brothers and sisters were born there, except for two. My wife lost a kidney due to cancer last year, one sister died of it four years ago at an early age, then her brother came down with it. They have several relatives in the area that had cancer. I have heard that there was some necular testing done east of this area in the past. I would like to do a survey. If the people on this list will email me privately, not to the list and let me know these things about a friend, relative, next door neighbor that died and what the cause was, heart atack etc and what town they lived in or closest to. Persons name, age and cause of death. The reason I need the name is so that I do not file the same person more than once. Everyone that I have talked to thinks this is geneaogy related. I will post the results in a few weeks to the list. email me at neillliberal@onlinemac.com Thank you, Jim Neill in Oregon

Surnames: Wallentine, Dunford, Jacobson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Qg.2ADE/280 Message Board Post: The Daily Herald, Wednesday, June 05, 2002 Lena Dunford Wallentine, 90, passed away at her daughter's home in Orem, Utah, on 4 June 2002. She was born 16 August 1911 in Bloomington, Idaho, a daughter of James Lehi and Eliza Jacobson Dunford. In her childhood days she enjoyed the sleigh rides, lake swims, school dances, and her classmates in Bear Lake. She developed a keen sense of humor early in life, as evidenced in her diary. She writes that she had just been elected as secretary to the student body at Fielding Academy in Paris and was tickled with the anticipation of a room and a desk of her own to share with her friends. Meanwhile, the school burned down, classes were held all over town, and she reports "It didn't amount to a hill of beans, ...me being the secretary of the school." Lena met her husband yet to be while in the 8th grade. Her diary reflects heart throbs and schemes to spend time with him as a classmate. After waiting 2 1/2 years while he served a mission to Texas, she married James Christian Wallentine in the Logan Temple on 7 June 1933. Immediately after the wedding, the newlyweds drove to Rexburg, Idaho, where they worked in the grocery business starting the day after their marriage. Lena and Jim moved from Rexburg to Malad where they continued in the grocery business. They later moved to Logan and started the Dinner Horn Food Store. Lena worked alongside her husband and enjoyed a team approach to make the business a success. She continued to support the family endeavors in radio stations KBRV in Soda Springs, KVEL in Vernal, and KNAK in Salt Lake City. She supported her husband in car dealerships in Tremonton and Logan along with a cattle ranch in Bear Lake and Soda Springs. In 1953 when the Dinner Horn was sold, she began working at Roskelley's in Logan. Her earnings were dedicated to the welfare of her daughters and grandchildren. Lena was a devoted mother and grandmother. The well-being of her family was the focal point of her life. Her roast beef dinners and mealtime humor were enjoyed by all. She enjoyed handwork and provided each grandchild with a knitted afghan and framed needlepoints. Her meticulous care of the family home, rose gardens, magnolias and lawn were an example to family and friends. As each grandchild learned and respected, nothing was out of place at Grandmother Wallentine's home. She could often be found reading a book with her house in order. Lena had a special love of her immediate neighbors. Lena loved the Lord and endured to the end. Although she served in many LDS Church assignments, her favorite was the Junior Sunday School. Her commitment to the Church was felt in the hearts of eleven grandchildren as they served missions around the world. Her continued devotion and love for her husband was a beacon for her family. Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Marie Cope (Lloyd) of Orem and Jill Blotter (Tom) of Logan, 13 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, 7 June 2002, in the Allen-Hall Mortuary on 34 E. Center St., Logan, at 1 p.m. Friends may call Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
