Bryce was a friend to all, and he especially loved bringing joy, smiles and laughter to those around him. Bryce was born on January 3, 1980, to Rex Grant and Sarah Ann Carter Robbins. He was welcomed home by an older brother, Jared. Throughout his life he cherished Jared, and his younger brothers and sisters. They love him for his quick wit and enthusiasm for life. Bryce was well-known throughout the community, and he touched many people’s lives with his respectful, caring ways and friendly attitude. He loved being around people and having a good time. He always made a gathering into a party. Blessed with a natural ability for athletics, he spent his growing-up years involved in several sports and hobbies. He played soccer, basketball, baseball and wrestled. Bryce medaled in both triple and long jumps at state track his junior and senior years. His special interests in high school included electronics, computer networking and hanging out with his friends. He participated in swing choir, FHA, FFA, SADD Club and especially enjoyed competing in the History Fair. For several years he was involved in Scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle. He attended several leadership training camps through the Scouting program. He especially loved the silly Scouting songs, and shared them often with his family — even when they weren’t willing listeners. His skateboard became one of his cherished possessions. He learned several stunts and even tried skate boarding down the garage roof. He loved adventure, and found rock climbing enjoyable and challenging. Bryce loved the out-of-doors, and enjoyed camping and hunting. He graduated from Malad High School in 1998, and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the time of his death he was employed at Icon in Smithfield, Utah. He was preceded in death by a younger brother, Joshua, three grandparents (Hulbert Merlin and Ruth Victoria Robbins and George Lynn Carter), and some of his childhood friends. Bryce is survived by his parents (Rex Grant and Sarah Ann Carter Robbins); grandmother (May Carter of Holbrook); three brothers (Jared Rex, Brady Lynn and Devin Andrew); two sisters (Stacey Ann and Paige Victoria); a sister-in-law (Nicole Mangum Robbins); two special children (Taysum and Whyett); and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, September 27 at noon in the Malad LDS Second-Fifth Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. in Malad this evening, Sept. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Holbrook Cemetery.

She was born in Malad, Idaho to David Earl Johnson and Mary Stuart McKay-Johnson on August 17, 1916. She married Eddis Allen Talbot Dec. 9, 1934 in Burley, Idaho. Her husband preceded her in death in 1955. She is survived by a sister, Marion McBurney; Chattanooga, TN; son Courtney, Piscataway, NJ; daughter Christine, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who were her devotion; a sister-in-law, brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Ferne was a Concert Pianist and accompanied for Ballet West. She was a first grade teacher at Adelaid Elementary, and West Bountiful Elementary, she has touched and formed the lives of many. Her loving smile, warm generosity, and beautiful music will be missed by all of us. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 27, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South. She was born May 17, 1913, in Malad, a daughter of Thomas C. and Jennie Mae Morgan Evans. Lucille was raised and educated in Malad, and later attended Albion Normal School, Utah State, and College of Idaho. She received her teaching degree in Elementary Education. Her first job was in a one room school house in Buist, ID. She married Ezra Taft Pett on May 17, 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family on a farm in Parma, ID, and were members of the Nyssa, Oregon LDS 1st Ward. She taught school at Nyssa Elementary School for many years. In 1981, Taft and Lucille returned to live in Malad. Mr. Pett passed away in December of 1981. Lucille loved to travel and enjoyed sharing her pictures and memories of her trips. She had also enjoyed her volunteer work at Malad Elementary where she helped student learn to read. Lucille was also a volunteer worker at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers museum. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in various callings. Lucille loved the missionary program and had supported many missionaries through the years. She is survived by her children; Stanly Taft (Judith) Pett of West Valley, Utah; Marvin Evans (Dianne) Pett of Malad, ID; Clayton Reed (Brenda) Pett of Nyssa, Oregon; Thomas Lynn (Georgia) Pett of Orem, Utah; Marceal Pett Hansen of Las Vegas; and 27 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Also a sister, June Ward of Malad, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Taft, a sister, Gwen, and a granddaughter, Christine Pett. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 3rd/6th Ward Chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. Ward. Jesse grew up and was educated in Malad. He attended one year of liberal arts at ISU. He was employed at Mountain Bell as a pole lineman until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Jesse served in the Signal Corps until his discharge on May 3, 1955. At that time he returned to Malad to work on the family farm with his father. In June 1956, he wed his lifelong love, Shirlee Marie Swenson. Five children were born to this union: Bonnie Marie, Donald LeGrande, Cheri Lynne, Teri Sue and Jess Nicholas. The family remained on the farm while Jesse worked at Thiokol, Crowthers Mill, Magic Gas and U&I Sugar. Jess was a good cattleman and farmer. He worked hard and long at both. He was chairman of the draft board for several years, and served on the MVI water board. The American Legion held a very high spot in his life. He was an avid hunter and snowmobiler, and in his later life turned to fishing and traveling in his motor home. On September 5, 2002, Jess passed away at the Oneida County Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer and related complications. He is survived by his wife, Shirlee, of 46 years; two daughters and husbands, Cheri and Chip Jacobsen, Teri and John Servoss; one son and wife, Jess and Rhonda Ward; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild (the lights of his life); one sister, Julia and Dick Persons of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Bill and Dixie Ward of Blackfoot. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one daughter, Bonnie Marie, one son, Donald LeGrande. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at noon in the Malad LDS Fifth Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Anderson December 15, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following their marriage they lived in Stone, where they farmed, ranched and raised their seven boys. Ross passed away in December of 1986. Helen enjoyed quilting, crocheting and tatting. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. She is survived by six sons; Douglas H. Anderson, Kenowicke, WA; Ross J. (Bonna), Stone, ID; Carl G. (Marilyn) Anderson of Shepherd, Montana; Dewey W. (Rena) Anderson of North Ogden, UT; H. Andrew (Marty) Anderson of Stone, Idaho; Lynn J. Semrad, 70, of Malad, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2002, in the Oneida County Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He never lost his sense of humor or smile, and his last thoughts were of his family. Paul was born October 4, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Pauline Winger. He was adopted by Joseph C. and Ethel Jarolin Semrad when he was 3 years old. He grew up and was educated in Arkansas and North Dakota, and then served three years in the Air Force. He married Carol Vaughn April 21, 1961, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Paul worked as an auto body repairman for over 30 years for Ren’s Chevrolet in Malad. People enjoyed going to the body shop to enjoy his sense of humor, and he had a way of making friends quickly. His grandchildren enjoyed spending time with him and watching movies on the big-screen TV. Since Carol passed away and he retired, he became active at various events around town as well as four-wheeling and hunting. He especially enjoyed bingo night at the Legion with his best friend, Bruno (Jerry Jones). Paul’s zest for life will be missed by all that knew him, and he will never be forgotten. He is survived by one daughter, Shauna Madson of Logan, Utah; two sons, Jeff (Laurene) Semrad and Mike (Avis) Semrad, both of Malad; one brother, Vic (Verona) Semrad, two sisters, Angie (Jim) Gaspers and Rosalie (Pete) Ihry, all of Hope, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, and his parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1250 W. 1100 N. She was born September 4, 1917 in Malad, Idaho, to Penelope Mary Williams and Hugh Conway Morris. She is survived by her sisters, Vella Bingham and Eva Jean (Milton) Wilcox; her brother, Ted (Rosemary) Morris; daughters, Kay (Dwight) Tiner, Chico, Calif.; Diann (Kent) Ellis, Layton; Vicki (William) Jackson, Ogden; Penelope (Archie) Phillips, Salt Lake City; and Randy (Douglas) Post, Plain City; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She married Frederick William Furniss on June 16, 1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1941. Fred preceded her in death by six months. Her parents, a sister, and two brothers also preceded her in death. Mary and Fred spent the first 21 years of their married life in Westwood, California where all of their children were born. She never lost affection for Northern California and visited family there as often as possible. Mary loved to travel and up until her health failed, looked forward to visiting friends and relatives in Europe and Asia as frequently as opportunity presented itself. Mary was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. The concept of "family" was central to her life and her nurturing skills of cooking, sewing, and decorative crafts were legendary to family and friends alike. To experience an "olekuchen", "blarney stone" or piece of "tort" gave credence to her skills in the kitchen. Because of her love of family tradition and as the matriarch of a large and grateful family, she will be missed daily - but at Christmas and New Year our hearts will be full of her. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in presidencies in all auxiliaries throughout her life. She also served as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple. She was a master teacher and took great joy in teaching the gospel. Mary was an avid reader and kept current on local and world events. As a lifelong Democrat, she often stated that her friends could honor her at her death by "voting for a couple of Democrats". Althea married Leland Walker. They were later divorced. On April 7, 1943, Althea married Maurice Robert Buckley in Preston, Idaho. Maurice died January 23, 1990. Althea was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the oldest member in her ward. She served in many capacities in the church and was still active in the Relief Society. She retired from the federal government after 30 years of service. Althea served as the Grand Marshall of Pleasant View Founders Day in 1994. Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Gary L. Walker, Sprague River, Oregon; Robert Buckley, Pleasant View; Wayne E. (Brenda) Buckley, Ogden; Linda Pettingill, Brigham City; Jean (Gordon) Hansen, Tempe, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters, George M. Scott, Khalil Scott, Rodney Scott, Josephine May, Lila Moss and Laura Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist"s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., with Bishop Kent Schmidt officiating. Born March 8, 1932 in Malad, Idaho, the son of Charles "S" and Geneva Jensen Evans. Shortly after his birth, his father died and his mother married Edward "S" Evans. Charles married his lifelong sweetheart, Ruby Harris on July 24, 1959. Marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from Inkom High School and attended Idaho State University. He worked 42 years for the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello, Ogden and Salt Lake City where he made many friends and lifelong memories. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and had a great love of his country. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a High Priest. He was able to fulfill many of his lifelong dreams, including seeing the success of his children and that all his grandchildren were baptized. Charlie is survived by his sweetheart, Ruby; three children: Debra L. Evans, Charles (Chuck) Evans (Robin); Dee E. Evans (Trish); seven grandchildren, Brandon, Miranda, Tiffany, C.J., Jason, Stephanie, and Deeann; sisters, Lois Fenwick, Vera Briscoe, Florence Brown, Leda King, and June Whitworth; brother, Stephen Evans. Preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and grandson, Joshua. He will be loved forever and missed as long. We love you, Sweetheart, Dad and Grandpa. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Bountiful 1st Ward Chapel, 311 North 800 West. He was born October 26, 1906, in Malad, Idaho, a son of John and Rosa Stalder Bishoff. He received all of his formal schooling at the Pauline School in Arbon Valley. At the age of 17 he was taking care of himself. He started working with his father and brothers on the farm in Arbon Valley. On April 27, 1931, he married Esther Lusk in Pocatello. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple on August 12, 1949. Esther passed away December 27, 2001. They farmed and ranched in Tyhee before they bought their ranch on Marsh Creek in McCammon in 1939. They operated the ranch until 1965. When they sold the ranch, they built a home in McCammon. He then worked for the Bannock County Road and Bridge Department for several years, retiring in 1971. They lived in their home in McCammon until 2000. Then they moved to Blackfoot for assisted care. He served on the Bannock County Planning and Zoning Board for several years as well as the McCammon Rodeo Committee. He was active in the LDS Church. He served as ward financial clerk for several bishops, a home teacher and was a high priest. He enjoyed the animals on the ranch, and fed his livestock with teams of horses, reminding us of an era gone by. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, leather work, gardening and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son, John P. (Gay) Bishoff, Annabella, Utah; three daughters, Gloria (Eugene) Anderson, Logan, Utah, Marlene (Calvin Leon) Rowsell, Blackfoot, Idaho, Karen Gladwin, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, three sisters and two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the McCammon LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Wayne Wiegman of the McCammon Ward officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, Aug. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Udy, 78, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 28, 2002 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family who provided her with kind and loving care throughout her illness. Nadine was born on July 14, 1924 in Malad, Idaho, the eleventh of twelve children born to Janet Thomas and Ephriam Thorpe. She married the loved of her life, John Udy, on April 8, 1945. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 8, 1955. Nadine loved to travel having visited various cities in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Mexico over the past few years. She enthusiastically attended her children and grandchildren"s sports activities and was an avid Jazz fan. She most enjoyed being around her family preparing excellent meals, quilting and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful role model and mother to her five children. She also enjoyed working as a bridal consultant for several years. Nadine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities including a teacher in the Primary, secretary of the Sunday School and a member of the Bear River Ward Relief Society presidency. She loved the gospel and happily served her Heavenly Father by fulfilling a Special Service Mission in the Mount Ogden Stake and serving as a temple ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple where she had many spiritual experiences. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John Udy and her five children, Pam (Greg) Royster, Marilyn (Wayne) Cox, Randy (Laura) Udy, Tammy (Randy) Richards, Kevin (Pam) Udy, all of Ogden; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Lela (Edward) Doutre and Donna (Marvin) Hansen, and her brothers, Thomas (Lila) Thorpe, Neil (Emma) Thorpe and William (Reva) Thorpe. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth and Mary, and four brothers, Clem, Lorin, Cenius, and Ephriam. The family expresses their gratitude for the care given by Dr. J. Call and IHC Hospice who showed so much kindness and professionalism while caring for our mother. He served in World War II, in the Navy from 1945 to 1946, as Seaman Second Class, and was drafted into the Korean conflict into the Army from 1951 to 1953, and achieved the rank of corporal, and was honorably discharged. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His heart was in his home and farm, and he leaves behind a great legacy of integrity and hard work. He was married to Audrey Rachel Hawkins and had three children; they were later divorced. He married his eternal sweetheart, Wanda Marie Thomas on March 2, 1984, and was sealed for time and eternity March 2, 1985, in the Logan, Utah temple. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, by his father, William Walter Spencer, his mother, Amelia Lorena Whitehead Spencer, brothers, Raymond Whitehead Spencer, Karl Conrad Spencer, and sister, Hazel Lorene Hakes, and great-granddaughter, Micaela Nicole Hernandez. She was raised in the Big Horn of Wyoming as part of the last colonization com-pany called by the church. She married Harold James Castleton on Oct 10, 1917 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were the parents of five children and spent their lives in Malad, Garland, and Logan. Hilda was a devout member of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and filled leadership positions in every women's auxiliary. She and her husband served as full time missionaries in the Eastern States Mission and in the North Indian Mission. They also served for many years as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple. She was an avid student of the gospel, and a gifted artist whose paintings are treasured by numerous family members and friends. Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is survived by Ralph (Emelyn) Castleton, Costa Mesa, CA; daughter-in-law, Mary Allen (Devon) Price, Ogden, UT; Merle (Ben) Call, Bountiful, UT; Louise (Bryce) Ericksen, Beaver Dam, UT; Mary (Raymond) Hall, Cedar City, UT; brother, Lorin Pack Howard; and over 157 descendants spanning five generations. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; son, Stanley (Mary) Castleton in 1946; a granddaughter, Jane Ericksen in 1951; and many other relatives. Services for this great woman, who traveled by covered wagon and jet airplane, and who witnessed history in three centuries, will be in the Logan Fifth Ward Chapel, 502 E. 300 N, 12 noon Tues. She was born May 5, 1925 in Boulder, Colorado, a daughter of Edward and May Ione Draper Itten. Dorothy met and married Jack Reed Boyce April 7, 1944 in Denver, where he was stationed during the war. They moved to Corinne, Utah, where they farmed for a short time and then lived in Tremonton and Ogden. In 1960 they purchased a sheet metal business in Tremonton, which they named "Boyce Sheet Metal". Dorothy worked with her husband in the business as bookkeeper until 1978 when the business was sold. She continued being active in community, volunteer service and was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she loved serving others in many callings. The remarkable quality about Dorothy as her ability to love and be loved by all she met. She is survived by four children: Gordon Jack Boyce of Midvale, UT; John H. Boyce of Smithfield, UT; Diana May (Edwin) Sunday of Sonora, CA; Kenneth (Lesa) Boyce of Malad, ID. 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One brother, Howard (Eula, deceased) Itten of Temple, TX; and one sister, Inez (William, deceased) Gambles of Brighten, CO; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Mildren Itten. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 22, 2002 at 12 noon in the Belmont, Utah LDS Ward Chapel.
