He was born June 21, 1915, in Kaysville, Utah, a son of Archie H. and Clara Webb Nalder. On May 7, 1937, he married Lola Steed in Malad, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. His wife, Lola, passed away August 7, 1987, at the age of 68. Archie served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He worked for the Oneida County Conservation District. In 1956, he moved to Terry, Montana, to work for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, a job he worked for 21 years before moving back to Holbrook in 1977. Archie was an active member and high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Madsen, two grandchildren, Brenda and Michael Madsen, and six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Tamara, Tiffany, Austin, Shayla and Mariya Madsen, all of Meridian, Idaho. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at noon in the Holbrook LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad on Wednesday evening, Feb. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the church in Holbrook from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.

She was from a large family of 14 children. She married Clifton Alex Sterrett June 20, 1935, in Alpine, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 13, 1950. He passed away May 15, 1980. Pearl lived in Samaria until she married Clinton, and then they moved to Alpine, Wyoming. After one year they moved to Oakland, California, where their three children were born. In 1944, they moved to Ashland, Oregon, and remained in Oregon until 1974, when they moved to Ogden, Utah. She had resided there since that time. Pearl was a wonderful mother, homemaker and caregiver. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in the Primary, Relief Society and the YWMIA presidencies. She loved to do handiwork and shared her talents with many friends and family members. She enjoyed traveling to several countries in her later years with family members. She survived by her children, Don Clinton (Beth) Sterrett of Orem, Utah, Morris Ray (Janis) Sterrett of Ogden, Utah, and Beverly Jean (Eldon) Capener of Riverdale, Utah; and 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two brothers, William W Price and Jerry D. Price; and five sisters, Verda Varga, Mary Behunin, Alta Knudsen, Ann Griffith and Edith (Patsy) Scott. Her parents, husband and two brothers, John W. Price and Cleo W. Price, and three sisters, Ruth Powell, Lucille Leavitt and Faye Parker, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Ogden Kingston Ward Chapel, 1425 Kingston Drive (the corner of Polk and Kingston), Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah, on Thursday, February 6, 2003, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. He was born on September 15, 1965 in Seattle, Washington. He was the son of Dale J. and Fern Daniels Thomas. He grew up on the family farm in St. John and graduated from Malad High School, class of 1983. He also graduated from the Bridgerland Auto and Diesel Mechanic program. Dale Roy married Jenise Noble on June 11, 1994 in Malad. He was an active member of the Malad Gun Club. Dale Roy has worked as a mechanic, heavy equipment operator, welder, and carpenter. He was known throughout the valley for his corn crops. He loved to ride his motorcycle, fish, hunt, to be with his dogs and to trap shoot. Dale Roy was a devoted husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle, grandson, and a friend. He is survived by his wife, Jenise and stepdaughter, Brittney of Trenton, Utah; 2 stepsons, Justin and Courtney of Jerome, ID; his father, Dale J. Thomas of St. John; a sister, Susan (Chris) Bowen of St. John; a niece, Taija and 2 nephews, Tyrell and Taylor Bowen all of St. John, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Daniels Thomas; and a nephew, Trevan Lee Bowen. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1250 N. 1100 W. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.

She enjoyed her role as a wife and homemaker, and was the rock that kept her family connected. No matter who stopped in, she always had a meal to put on the table. Everyone was welcome. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various positions over the years. She has been active in the community in many different organizations. She is survived by her five children, Marilyn (Jerry) Carrico, Mountain Home, Idaho, George W. (Judy) Jones, Malad, Idaho, D. Khalil (Marilyn) Jones, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Judy (Blaine) Christiansen, Magna, Utah, Lisa Jones, Idaho Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine siblings. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at noon in the Malad LDS Third Ward chapel, 400 N. 200 W. He was born May 27, 1923, in Junction, Utah, to Clive Isaac and Myrtle Gray Brinkerhoff. He married Louise Smith on Oct. 2, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. Jack served in World War II in the Burma-China-India area. After the war, he worked at the Tooele Army Depot until they moved to Malad to help out with family. There he worked as a millwright/manager for Oneida County Grain Growers and later for Hess Pumice. Jack loved to work in his shop, where he could design, build, or repair almost anything. He was a member of the Malad LDS Third Ward, where he served in various callings. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also a member of the Lion's Club for 35 years. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Louise; sister, Dortha Davenport; four children, Neil (Linda), Las Vegas, Dale (Jaylene), Sandy, Debbie (Mike), Orem, and Ed (Annette), Smithfield; 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Jack will be missed by all who knew him. Her mother, Helen, died when she was 6 years old and she was left to help raise her siblings until her father married Ruth Anderson Robbins. On April 12, 1946, Marian married her sweetheart, Leon J. Grover, together they raised a wonderful family of five children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Leon passed away in 1981. On November 7, 1992, she married Carl B. Rhodes in Tremonton. Besides Stone, Idaho, Marian has lived in Fielding and Tremonton, Utah. Marian was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she enjoyed serving in various capacities in Primary, Relief Society, and the Sunday School organizations. She loved quilting, gardening, family history, and helping on the family farm. She was a woman of extraordinary abilities and the items she built, stand as a tribute to her talents. She delighted in family gatherings and her family truly loved and honored her. She is survived by her husband, Carl B. Rhodes of Tremonton; children, Margene (Bert) Chew, Green River, WY, Karlene (John) Marshall, Roy, Jay L. (Melody) Grover, Rock Springs, WY, Clayton M. Ila Dell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been a member of the Ogden 3rd Ward and Ogden 75th Ward. She served in the Young Women's Organization as Mia Maid Leader. She also served as Relief Society president and counselor. She was a past member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Ila Dell enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and painting, cooking, gardening and sewing. Surviving are her husband, Ogden; two sons and four daughters, Michael E. (Kimbal) Bird, Dwight M. He was born on Oct 3, 1920 in Holbrook, Idaho the third of eleven children to Colen H. and Mary Casper Sweeten. He grew up and worked on the family ranch in Holbrook and graduated from Malad High School in 1938. He served a mission in southern California and Arizona for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1941 to 1943. Immediately upon returning home from his mission he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served our country from 1943 to 1945. Even though he had fallen in love with flying and would have been a wonderful commercial pilot he respected the wishes of his family and returned to the ranch. On September 17, 1947 he married Bessie Jean Krage in the Logan Temple. They lived in Malad, Idaho and Holbrook, Idaho for the first 17 years of their married life, while he ranched with his six brothers on the family homestead. In 1965 they moved to Kaysville, Utah and all of his eight children graduated from Davis High School. George worked for Utility Trailer and helped establish the Utility Trailer Utah Division. He welded the very first trailer built in Utah. He worked with Ralph Larson and Sons as a long haul driver and is known as "bald eagle" by friends he met all over the western United States. He also worked for Tooele Army Depot rail shop at Hill Air Force Base. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he was a high priest and served in many positions throughout his life. He is a great hunter and only feels "really at home" on the back of a horse. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. His sense of humor has delighted all and his last words were "I've come to the end of my rope and tied the knott." Survivors include his wife Jean (Krage) Sweeten of Kaysville, Utah; children: Barbara J. Daniels, Gladys L. Graham Moore, ( David Brad) Moore, Terri L. Shafer, George Sweeten (Annette), Brad R. Sweeten (Michelle), Julie A. Murphy (Craig), John P. Sweeten (Erica), Boyd D. Sweeten (Sue), eight children, 31 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children. Also surviving are four brothers, Colen H. Sweeten II, Elbert Sweeten, Ciecel Sweeten, Garth Sweeten, two sisters, Florence (Sweeten) Hubbard, and Fay (Sweeten) Cottle. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Gailey Park First Ward, 50 West 300 South. After high school graduation, he served in WWII and achieved the rank of Sargent in the 398th MP Battalion. He attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah on an athletic scholarship, where he was voted all-conference in basketball and football. He met LaZell DeMill in Ephraim, and they were married March 1, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple, October 15, 1988. He left school and moved back to Malad to work on the family farm. They moved to Pocatello, where he worked for Eddy’s Bakery. When they moved back to Malad he worked in a partnership at Malad Heating and Appliance. He also owned and operated his own furnace truck. His real love was his farms and horses. In 1968 he went to work for Continental Bakery, where he worked for 21 years. He served for 15 years on the Oneida County School Board, where he helped Malad get their new high school. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was a high priest. He loved sports and enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren participate. Dan had five sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Velma; and his brother, Jack. He is survived by his loving wife, LaZell; four sons, Dan (Susie) of Malad, Terry (Sharon) of Pocatello, Kevin (Bonnie) of Orem, Utah, and John H. of Salt Lake City, Utah; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Malad Sixth Ward, 400 North 200 West, at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, with Bishop Larry Thomas officiating. Viewing will be Sunday evening at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Monday at the funeral home from 1:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. His kindness, wisdom and love will be greatly missed by his family.

They later moved to Hagerman where Jessie graduated from high school in 1939. Jessie traveled with her sister, Eleanor, to Santa, Monica, Calif. She married Richard Stephan in 1940. They were divorced in 1942. From this union a daughter, Helen, was born. Later Jessie moved to Boise. She married Orville E. Allen on Jan. 15, 1948. Orville passed away March 13, 1985. They lived and worked in Boise Valley for 37 years. Jessie retired in 1985. Jessie is survived by her daughter, Helen (Stephan) Biermann; her two sons, Jess LeRoy Allen and Michael Bruce Allen; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Keith Nieffenegger of Casper, Wyo.; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nieffenegger, Martha Allen and Eleanor Allen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian.

She was born August 6, 1911, in Logan, Utah, to Alfred Joseph Clark Jr. and Lydia Mitchell. One of six children, she grew up on a farm in Daniels, Idaho, and attended schools in Oneida County and was a graduate of Logan High School. On February 17, 1934, she married Vernon Iverson Monson. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity, and together they served an LDS Mission in Roanoke, Virginia. Wanda loved her family, enjoyed spending time doing needlepoint, decorating her home, and creative cooking for her family and friends. She was known for her delightfully delicious homemade butter mints. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy King of Malad, Idaho; a brother, Delmar M. Clark of Malad; a son, Terry Monson of Leslie, ID; a daughter, Tamara Toomer of Fresno, CA; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24, 2003, at 12:00 p.m. at Benson Horsley Funeral Home, Malad, Idaho. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be in The Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden, Utah at 3 p.m.

Frank “Tony” Warner, 95, of Twin Falls passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Tony was born October 18, 1907 in Dillon, Montana, the first born of Isaac VanPelt and Luella Jenkins Warner. Tony moved with his family to Malad when he was a year old. He graduated from Malad High School and went on to the University of Idaho, graduating in 1931 with a B.A. degree in Business. Tony’s first job was serving as a band teacher in Council, ID. He taught there less than a year when the depression forced the closing of the school and he moved back to Malad to work on the family farm. On September 3, 1931 he married Anna Lois Fredrickson in Malad, ID. In 1935 they moved to Kimberly, where he was the band director for seven years. During this time he won the honor of taking his marching band to the Portland Rose Parade. In 1942 he took over Dumas Music in Twin Falls. It was later changed to Warner Music and remained thus for over 50 years until Tony retired in 1993. On February 28, 1975 Tony married Sharon Rowsell in Elko, NV. During the mid-1950s Tony directed the Twin Falls Drum and Bugle Corp and played in the Twin Falls City Band and the Magic Valley Symphony Orchestra. He also enjoyed playing in dance bands. After retiring, Tony spent his remaining years with his loving wife, Sharon. Tony is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Twin Falls; three children, Mary Karen (Fred) Bulmann of North Plains, OR, William Franklin (Judy) Warner, Jr. of Boise and John Fredrickson (Renee) Warner of San Ramon, CA.; five grandchildren, Julie, John, Scott, Tim, and Jamie; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lois; one brother and two sisters. Funeral services for Tony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the 13th Ward LDS Chapel, 457 Maurice St. N., Twin Falls, with Bishop Kelly Ward conducting. She was born on September 18, 1920 in Lewiston, Utah to John Evans and Mahala Deseret Thomas. She graduated from Malad High School and attended college at Idaho State, the University of Denver, and Brigham Young University. While at BYU she met her future husband, Lowell Storrs Miller. They were married on December 1, 1945 in American Fork. After Lowell's death in 1955, Blanche returned from the Midwest to Utah where she raised her three children. For nearly 20 years she worked in the accounting office at Utah Technical College in Provo, watching it grow into the current Utah Valley State College. She was a member of the LDS church and served for many years in both ward and stake primary callings. She was primary president in the Park Ward and then primary president in the Utah Stake. She also served as a Young Women's teacher and on several Relief Society boards. Blanche was an active thespian in high school and retained a life long interest in drama and poetry. For several decades she had season tickets to the drama series at BYU. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, and by her sister Ruth Thomas. Her three children survive her, Sheldon T. (Barbara) of Chillicothe, OH, Marianne of Provo, and L. Scott (Elizabeth) of American Fork; also her sister Gwen (Clive) Anderson of Downey, ID, and her sisters-in-law Mildred Miller of Parker, CO and Anna Lou Bledsoe of Diana, TX. She has eight grandchildren, Katherine (Steve) Baldwin, Ryan (Amber) Semerau, Emily (Julian) Acosta, Chad (Kathleen) Miller, Brandon Miller, James Miller, Kathrine Miller, and Samuel Miller. She has six great-grandchildren. She will be remembered with fondness by numerous nieces and nephews who have enjoyed her kindness and hospitality while they have lived in Provo. He was born March 26, 1914, in Samaria, Oneida County, Idaho, the son of Evan Morris and Deloria Ann Peterson Price. He received his education in Samaria and Malad, graduating from Malad High School. He attended college in Logan, Utah, until he was hurt in a machine shop and had to quit. Theon met and began courting Helen Hutchings, who was teaching school in Samaria. They were married on August 23, 1939, at Driggs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Theon helped his father in farming and running a milk route to be delivered at a creamery in Malad. Soon after their first daughter was born, Theon took his family to California, where he worked at Douglas Aircraft. Because of health problems, they moved back to Idaho, where he owned a service station and tire repair business, and also built cabins and had a motel. In the early 1960's, they moved to the Mini-Cassia area, and at the time of death was living in Heyburn. He worked at Ore-Ida, Hall's True Value, and was also a battery distributor for Southern Idaho. Theon was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully. He and Helen had the privilege of serving as missionaries in the Southern States Mission in Jackson, Mississippi. He was always determined to do what needed to be done, even when his health was failing. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen of Heyburn; his children, Judith McComb of Layton, Utah, Helen Darlene (Bruce) Wheatley of Robin, Idaho, Cheryl Diane (Larry) Garrelts of Layton, Kathleen (Rick) Uriguen of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Debra (Mike) Seal of Rupert; his siblings, Bernice Lewis and Hyrum Price of Malad, Idaho, Platt Price and Merrill Dee Price of Samaria, Idaho, Eulalia Peacock of Kaysville, Utah, and Anita Williams of Tremonton, Utah; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. As a young man he worked for Foster Ispen as a farmhand in Malad. He then moved to Pocatello and attended Idaho State University for two years. On September 19, 1969, he married Codie Lee Wells in Pocatello. They moved to Granger, Utah, in 1969, when he worked for a year as a nurse’s aide at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. In 1970 he began working for Shoppy Mechanical and remained there until 1979. Then they returned to Pocatello, when he worked for several mechanical companies until 1982, when he began at Atlas Mechanical and worked there until his untimely passing. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, bowl, and spend time at home with his wife of 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Codie Lee Swindle of Pocatello; daughter, Dawn Stone of Chubbuck; son, Shawn Swindle of Pocatello; mother, Margaret Swindle of Malad; brothers and sisters, Richard Swindle of Malad, Joann Workings of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; Norvy Parrish of Denver, Colorado; Fred Swindle of Malad; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father, Gloma Swindle. Donna was born June 29, 1924 in Malad, ID to Thomas Francis and Winifred McKay Budge. Donna married Dixon Miles Woodbury June 26, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had three children, Bruce Dixon, Marcia, and Mark Budge. Donna and Dixon enjoyed traveling together in connection with Dixon's job as a professor at the University of Utah Medical School. Donna received her education in Malad and at the University of Utah. She was a teacher at Whittier Elementary, Berkeley, CA, 1945-1948. Donna was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was always concerned about her family members and helped everyone in any way she could. She was an ardent supporter of education and greatly encouraged family members to get their college degree. Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including Relief Society president, Pri-mary president, and in the Young Wo-men. She was a longtime resident of Bountiful and was beloved by her neighbors for her great service and friendship. Donna was a member of the University of Utah Women's Club and received the club's Woman of the Year award. She also served as president, 1971-1972. During that time she helped organize the Faculty Women Scholarship, which has helped many women finish their education. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Nancy), North Salt Lake, Marcia (Bruce) Covington, State College, PA, Mark (Ann), North Salt Lake. She leaves a great legacy for her 11 grandchildren, Kimberly, Jonathan, Scot, David, Jessica, Amy, Esther, Joel, Matthew, Jason, Thomas, Emily, and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Donna, Emma, Nathaniel. Her two sons and eight of her grandchildren have served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ. A funeral will be Wed. Jan 8, 11 a.m. Val Verda LDS Stake Center, 2651 S. 500 W, Bountiful. A viewing will be Tues. Jan 7, 6-8 p.m. Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church before the service.
