But thanks for your work to help me. The tree you found is mine. What I am looking for is local Jefferson or Idaho sources. The common ones as found on Ancestry.com I think I have. I need not only about the song contest but of everything happening in Rigby, Ririe, Heise and Lorenzo areas, having any connection to the single man and dane Lars Ledet. He had farms in these areas in a period from 1903 to 1948. Lars (II) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: nolan_bybee Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.jefferson/258.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There is a sign talking about the Bybee area in Rigby. It is located next to the Rigby 1st and 4th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint building. Bybee was located out in the area now known as Annis, which is by Meanan, Idaho. I have googled to see if there is a copy of the sign on the net, but I am unable to find it so I plan to go take a picture of it and post it for those that care. Robert Lee Bybee was one of the individuals that helped name the town of Meanan. He homesteaded some of the area out there and was influential in its development. He later became an Idaho State Senator around 1901 and his picture is in the Idaho State Capital. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have here in Denmark some of his papers and a pile of letters from him (also some to him). I am now beginning to look through these papers. In general I thus ask you if anybody has seen any sign of this Danish farmer, who in the thirtees was the Jefferson County peace judge and secretary in one of the canal associations? Then I would like to know about it. More specific I ask if anybody has heard of a Rigby event in 1911 that he writes about in a letter. He tells my grandparents that he attended a song contest in the nearest town, what probably must have been Rigby, he living near Lorenzo. There were individual singers and there were several choirs - from Jefferson County and places nearby. But the brother of my granpa lived in the area in that period. He was called Lars Ledet and had first a farm near Lorenzo, then he lived a few years in Rigby and then for a long period he had a farm near Ririe. He told in letters home, that he - a bachelor - visited very often in weekends other Danish people in the area. And vice versa. He died 31 Dec 1918 in Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho. Today my brother told me of reading an article, probably while researching on my aunt Cora, that he remembers saying (as he recalls) that Charles died when a tractor tipped. That he left several young children including two sets of twins. That neighbors helped his widow with the children after his death, possibly taking them in. I've searched for the article but haven't yet found it. It was possibly the Post Register. Does anyone know this story? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
