Has everyone heard that Ancestry is closing down the Rootsweb mailing lists in March? Is the admin of this list going to try and migrate the group somewhere else? We have started a new Idaho Genealogy message board/mailing list at "Groups.io" ( https://groups.io/g/IdahoGenealogy ) We want to place links to any county groups or specialized Idaho lists or groups on the home page. Of Course, anyone interested in Idaho genealogy is encouraged to join this new group I hope to hear from you RandyC

I've "rescued" three old photographs belonging to the ADAMS and HAVERNICK Family. The first two photographs are of Alice Dolores ADAMS both taken in December 1909 and indicating that she was 7 months old at the time. The two photographs were both taken at the Burns Studio in Lewiston, ID. The third photograph is identified as Jessie HAVERNICK and was likely taken in the 1880's. There is no studio or location indicated on this photograph, however, Jessie appears to be about 4 years old at the time this photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information: Alice Dolores ADAMS was b. 8 May 1909 in Valleyford, WA to Roy Gay ADAMS (b. 1877 in Oregon-d. 1919 in Spokane, WA) and Jessie Alice HAEVERNICK (b. 14 Mar 1883 in Mount Idaho, ID-1964). Alice had two brothers, Edwin William ADAMS (1912-1922) and Roy M. ADAMS. Alice married Marvin P. JOHNSON and she died 23 Dec 1971 in Spokane, WA and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Rockford, WA along with her Mother and Father. Jessie HAEVERNICK or HAVERNICK was b. 14 Mar 1883 in Mount Idaho, ID to parents William HAVERNICK (b. 1853) and Alam MARKHAM (b. 1861). I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Author: lmmacdonald1 Surnames: McDonald Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.idaho/488/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great grandmother, Catherine McDonald, was the eldest of the 7 children of John Brocker McDonald and Anne (Nancy) McDonald of lot 20, 1st Concession, Kenyon Twp, Glengarry, Ontario. Three of her siblings, Hugh B., Alexander 'Sandy" and Annie Laurie, left Canada to settle in the US. Annie Laurie married George Kennedy and settled in Wisconsin. I have made a family connection there. Hugh B.(1854-1941) married Mary Ellen V. Morgan and settled in Skamania, WA. They had 8 children. I have some info on the sons, John Joseph (1884-1969), Alexander A. (1888-1970), Hubert Arthur (1897-1982) and George Francis (1899-1968). All 4 spent their lives in Washington. Alexander "Sandy" born 6 August 1865, married Katherine ?, and settled first in Wisconsin and then in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He died there 29 March 1933. He and Katherine had 2 children that I know of, John A. (b.1895) and Elizabeth (b. 1902). The 1930 US Census shows both of them still at home. Any information on these families and perhaps even a family connection, would be most appreciated. Linda MacDonald Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. That.k you for contacting me about this photograph; however, none of the names are in my family files. Sent from my Kindle Fire _____________________________________________ From: Shelley Cardiel <cardiels@comcast.net> Sent: Mon Jan 06 22:19:13 PST 2014 To: IDIDAHO@rootsweb.com Subject: [IDIDAHO] RASMUSSEN Family Photograph I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mr. & Mrs. G. S. RASMUSSEN which was taken at the C. F. Baldwin Studio in Berrien Springs, MI. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with the couple likely in their 20's at the time. This appears to be their wedding picture and includes the following information in addition to their names, "Mrs. John FREDERICK of Ferdinand, Idaho " and "Lady Bust" and "on highway 95 West end of town, next to last house on the west, unpainted 2 story, near Mrs. GREIFE". Guess that this is the person to who the photograph was given, or someone who ordered a "Bust of the Lady" in this photograph after it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a RASMUSSEN Family Researcher I have gathered the following information regarding this couple: Gordon S. RASMUSSEN was b. Dec 1885 in Wisconsin to parents Christian "Christie" H. RASMUSSEN (b. 6 Apr 1851 in Saaby, Denmark-d. 1911) and Inger Marthea SORBYE (b. 24 Oct 1859 in Skien, Norway-d. 1948). Gordon was one of 9 children born to this couple including, Gordon S.; Clara Johanna; Chester Martin; Orville Sorbye; Ruth Marie; Stanley David; Irene Caroline; Annette Evalyne; and Leroy Berthin RASMUSSEN all born between 1885 and 1902. Gordon married Phenie or Phemia or Phemie CHRISTENSEN or CHRISTENSON or CHRISTIANSEN or CHRISTANSEN(b. abt 1888 in Wisconsin) and together they had 5 children including, Dorothy; Enid; Gladys; Carl; and unnamed RASMUSSEN, all born between 1912 and 1924 in Wisconsin and Idaho. Phenie died in Spokane, WA on 20 Apr 1929 and Gordon married two additional times, a second time to Cora and a third to Tessie Viola DUTRO GOODALL (1898-1989) in 1960. Gordon died in Washington, OR on 28 Apr 1965. Census records provide the following details: 1910 census of Berrien Township, Berrien Co. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.
