Clark checking in, a few additions and updates. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Matthew D. Friend Sent: Friday, April 06, 2012 10:01 AM To: IDGenWeb Project Subject: [IDGENWEB] Roll Call - April 6, 2012 (Happy Easter!) Hi Idahoans, Well Spring has sprang and left behind the April showers to a sticky hot summery humid weather here in Arkansas. As someone once said, "the lion came roaring in and toppled over the lamb this season." We are not having to crank up our AC a bit and running it more than we normally do for this time of year. Well folks I hope you have a great Easter weekend. May you and your family are blessed with good things and hope for the future. It's April and it's roll call time. I hope to hear from all of you soon. Thanks to those who have donated to our hosting site. We are good for the next three years. All we need it some more volunteers for adopting our 12 orphaned counties. If you know of someone that can be a county coordinator for one of these counties, then please pass the word along to them we are looking for someone's TLC. Well, I don't know if any of you have been checking out the progress for the 1940 census release, but if you have seen any of the Idaho stuff. It is available on the NARA website along with maps and other instructions that was provided for the enumerators. Interesting resources, you can download these to your computer just time consuming. Here's the list of site to see who has them available if you don't or haven't seen them. http://1940census.archives.gov/ (Complete with Idaho Listing) http://www.ancestry.com/1940-census (partial) http://www.familysearch.org/1940-census (partial) If you can think of other locations just add it to this mailing list. Also, those who signed up for Familysearch Indexing, you can start indexing other states if you wish or wait until Idaho is ready to do, which it wasn't last night when I check. Since Easter is coming on Sunday---What was your best Easter memories? I remember being a kid along with my little brother, Terrill getting ready to dye eggs and hunt for them the next day. I love the candy-filled Easter basket my parents bought for us. Later in life I remember going to church enjoying listening or being in the church choir. Those were my favorite things about Easter Sundays. A reminder to those who said they will donate to our IDGenWeb Project hosting fund. Please send your check as soon as possible. Thanks for donating. Your contribution is welcoming and much needed at this time. We'll be good for the next three years. Well, have a great weekend, Matt -- *Matthew D. We're listed under the participating "Societies" (they didn't have an option for a Project as such to register). If your state project would like to participate, you'll need to register as a participating "society" too (under the USGenWeb Project "umbrella"). To register as either a participating society or an individual transcriber (indexer), go to http://the1940census.com/. Participating projects/societies can add one of the Society badges displayed at https://the1940census.com/society/society-badges-3/ on their sites, as well as the individual indexers can participate in the Societies Games and Prizes. If you have any problems, please let either Linda Lewis ([email protected]) or I ([email protected]) know so we can help. Good Afternoon Idahoans, I've been busy this morning with some quick read on "46 Pages" by Scott Liell for a short essay for my U.S. Constitutional course. Great book for those who love to read. I recommend it. Now, another week had passed and my major oopsy last week on the date. I made sure I had the right date this time, right? March 23rd? Of course, it is March 23rd. Well another call for those who haven't checked in yet. I hope to hear from you soon--through the mailing list or privately to me--I need to hear from you. Because I love you guys and care about communicating with you. All is well currently, beside my serious reading this morning, AND some major noises from behind my apartment complex. I've been hearing a, what do you call it, shovel-claw tractor knock down two houses that once belong to a sorority and fraternity group. They did one apartment building last fall in our complex. It is so noisy, I'll tell ya'! I'll be glad when they finish everything. Of course what annoyed me was that they took down our short fence between our apartment and the other houses. Absolutely NO privacy now. Jeez!! Oh well, why should I complain right? Well we've had some thunderstorms and lots of rain in the past several days but today was blessed with a windy but somewhat sunny day. Thank goodness for the sun. I'm almost about it grow duck feet. My feet were getting a bit to wet for comfort. Some of you are letting me know about your project(s) and adventure for your websites. Keep up the great work. I hope to hear about more from you. I love to hear about it. Oh! Before I forget. I still need a new family history pieces for our "Idahoan Legacy Roots". Do you have a family story to share along with some pictures too. I would love to feature them for you. Well hope to hear from you soon and have a great weekend, Matt -- *Matthew D. Hi Idahoans, Another week has pass and it's time for our weekly roll call for those who hasn't sign in last week. Thanks to Scot for starting our month off with a bang! Earlier I've send out some message about the 1940 state census maps. These maps were used to keep track of where they've enumerated. One added benefit in this census enumeration is the added (x) next to the person's name who gave the information to the enumerator. Unlike the past census we often wonder who gave these information. In effort to our part in the 150th anniversary of Idaho's Territorial Days. We would like to compile a page on the IDGenWeb Project of all the records and history available of that era. If you would like to help out or add to this, please contact Sharon McConnel so she can prepare these pages for our website. Another items of was sent to you in private emails in regards to our upcoming renewal of our hosting and domain name. If you wish to help out and contribute a small donation. Please let me know so that whatever cost left over can be account for. We have a few of you who sent us your contribution. Well, all is well in my neck of the woods since many tornadoes has been swirling about me.My prayers goes to those who were hit the hardest. I hope all is well in Idaho and other places. God bless you and your family, and be safe. Have a great weekend, Matt -- *Matthew D. Friend* Conway, Arkansas Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MatthewDFriend Twitter: @matthewdfriend

The week before was Blair Underwood and he was able to make a family connection to Africa by DNA testing. That's all good for them since many many of the slaves couldn't know who their ancestors were. Underwood was unique because his slavery background were free of slavery after a law was pass in Virginia to free them unless they move from the state or something else. I forgot. But you can watch those video on NBC.com I was going to ask you about another line you had submitted a photo on the archives but I will get to you later on that one. Friend" <[email protected]> To: "IDGenWeb Project" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Sent: Sunday, March 4, 2012 1:08:54 PM Subject: [IDGENWEB] IDGenWeb Project Updated! Hey Idahoans & Others, IDGenWeb Project (http://idgenweb.org/) The IDGenWeb Project has been updated. We are featuring a couple of new items to see if others like this addition to our website. First, is our "Idahoan Legacy Roots" featuring the Tremelling Family courtsey of Christine M. Storey with two photographs of her ancestors. If you have some information you would like to share with our patrons. Contact the State Coordinator or SC Assistants (http://idgenweb.org/contact.html) to how you can add your Idahoan ancestor. Secondly, our "Genealogy Research Techniques" featuring a recent airing of Who Do You Think You Are? by NBC with Reba McEntire's journey back through her mother's family history. Ancestry.com provided three easy steps to find out why our ancestor had made the choices they've did through clues from existing records, and sometimes beyond. Come over to watch the video and read about those three steps. We hoped to add other tips or techniques on how to research genealogy. if you have any ideas contact the State Coordinator or SC Assistants. Thirdly, we have the following counties up for adoption: Adams, Bonneville, Butte, Canyon, Custer, Fremont, Gooding, Jefferson, Madison, and Owyhee that could use some TLC of some magical hands to keep their site updated regularly. If you are interested contact the State Cordinator or SC Assistants. (http://idgenweb.org/contact.html) Last of all, but not least, we are on Facebook. If you are a facebook user and would like to be keep up-to-date on some of the active discussion from most of our twenty plus members. Come join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/idgenweb/ and read some of our conversions or ask some questions.
