    3. I found you can readily have a link to the 1940 census images at FamilySearch. Here is an example for my county, Teton: http://bit.ly/HEQczW Of course, we are also 12% indexed already so it may not be too long until we can search via an index. Mike St. Clair

    1. [IDGENWEB] April Roll Call - April 13, 2012
    2. Matthew D. Friend
    3. Hi Idahoans, It's check-in time again. If you have checked in for the month of April, then now is the time to just say "Hey, I'm here!" Our first quarterly report showed that we had 19 team members on the IDGenWeb Project. We've had 12 team members checked-in all three months, while 6 team members only had partial checked-in. We've had one new team member, Michal Beck and we've lost a couple due to personal reasons. I hope everyone don't mind these email remainders. I don't mind doing them but if you have any suggestion on our roll call method. I'm all ears. Send a note my direct anytime. I want to thanks those who contribuated to the IDGenWeb Project hosting funds. I have receive most of the checks in the mail this week. Thanks folks, you're great! Summery weather is creepin' in this past week here in Arkansas, but I've been cooped up in the university library catching up on my reading and writing. I just love American history. It's never a dull moment in our American history. Well I hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday and it was a blessed one for you and your family. It was quiet around my home. We've had a simple small family dinner for the four of us. Have a great weekend, Matt -- *Matthew D. 3. Sharon checking in for Gem & Valley & a passel of orphans. Valley Co. has had several contributions this past mo. Added a block to orphan counties abt 1940 census so we're up-to-date on that. ________________________________ From: Matthew D. Hi Idahoans, Well Spring has sprang and left behind the April showers to a sticky hot summery humid weather here in Arkansas. As someone once said, “the lion came roaring in and toppled over the lamb this season.” We are not having to crank up our AC a bit and running it more than we normally do for this time of year. Well folks I hope you have a great Easter weekend. May you and your family are blessed with good things and hope for the future. It’s April and it’s roll call time. I hope to hear from all of you soon. Thanks to those who have donated to our hosting site. We are good for the next three years. All we need it some more volunteers for adopting our 12 orphaned counties. If you know of someone that can be a county coordinator for one of these counties, then please pass the word along to them we are looking for someone’s TLC. Well, I don’t know if any of you have been checking out the progress for the 1940 census release, but if you have seen any of the Idaho stuff. It is available on the NARA website along with maps and other instructions that was provided for the enumerators. Interesting resources, you can download these to your computer just time consuming. Here’s the list of site to see who has them available if you don’t or haven’t seen them. http://1940census.archives.gov/ (Complete with Idaho Listing) http://www.ancestry.com/1940-census (partial) http://www.familysearch.org/1940-census (partial) If you can think of other locations just add it to this mailing list. Also, those who signed up for Familysearch Indexing, you can start indexing other states if you wish or wait until Idaho is ready to do, which it wasn’t last night when I check. Since Easter is coming on Sunday---What was your best Easter memories? I remember being a kid along with my little brother, Terrill getting ready to dye eggs and hunt for them the next day. I love the candy-filled Easter basket my parents bought for us. Later in life I remember going to church enjoying listening or being in the church choir. Those were my favorite things about Easter Sundays. A reminder to those who said they will donate to our IDGenWeb Project hosting fund. Please send your check as soon as possible. Thanks for donating. Your contribution is welcoming and much needed at this time. We’ll be good for the next three years. Well, have a great weekend, Matt -- *Matthew D. 3. Idaho, Lewis and Nezperce counties checking in. Well, here in Idaho County we got up to snow showers, then a little rain, then a little snow blizzard, then a little sunshine and now the snow is gone! Sure is messing with my steelhead fishing. I am currently working on updates for all my counties. Added a link to the 1940 census at the archives to all of them, and hope to add the images to my sites later this year when I have time. Took a bunch more cemetery photos on a sunny day earlier this week for Idaho County and will get working on editing them. I am still working with the Idaho County Genealogical Society, helping them index obituaries, etc. I will be going to a meeting of the Historic Preservation Committee later this month. It will be interesting to see what projects they have in the works. Just looked out the window and it is snowing again. Typical spring weather here. Happy Easter to everyone.
