    1. [IDGENWEB] July 1, 2012 - Monthly Roll Call
    2. Matthew D. Friend
    3. Hello Idahoans, It's July and time for another round of roll call reminder. I hope this summer is finding everyone doing well and enjoying your summer weather. I know that the 4th of July is approaching soon. Just have a safe holiday. Enjoy the day with family and friends. The State of Arkansas had banned all fireworks so there won't be any kind of low ground fireworks. Not sure if there is going to be a regular firework display since it has been high and dry around here this summer. All is well in my neck of the woods. Family is enjoying staying inside as we've been having lots of 100+ degree weather for the past couple of weeks. My wife is slowly recovery but not fast enough for her. She still haven't got the energy as before. We've going to be spending our holiday at home. I will be indoor grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, etc. For those who love to cook with slow cookers. I got a recipe for you. Slowcooker Rotisserie Chicken 1 Whole Body Fryer Favorite Seasoning Salt 6 or 7 Aluminum Foil Balls Create six or seven two-inch size aluminum foil balls place them on the bottom of the slow cooker. Prepare the chicken by rinsing it under colder. Pat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle generously with the seasoning salt. You do want to make it VERY generously <wink>. Place the seasoned chicken on the foil balls. Cook on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours (depends on the size of the chicken). Cover. Suggestion to serve with New Potato Salad and Corn on the Cob. Enjoy! if you have some summer cooking recipe. I would love to try some. Have a great holiday! Matt Friend -- *Matthew D. 3. Good Evening Idahoans, Another week has past and gone. It’s time once again for roll call for the month. Those who haven’t checked in yet, now is the time. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, soon-to-be fathers. Hope your day is spent how you like it. All is well in my neck of the woods. The heat is rising as well as the humidity. About three weeks ago, just after my wife came home from the hospital, I’ve started walking again. This week I’ve put in some jogging also. I had ran a couple of 5K in the past. So after having to walk back and forth to the hospital visiting with my wife during that one week. I felt like I could get back to walking again. I surely needed it since I gained a bit of weight back since I stop jogging. I had injury my ankle when I did the last 5K as the young man who was guiding me wasn’t paying attention to where I was jogging and I went off the sidewalk and rolled my ankle. Well anyhow, I felt like my ankle had enough time to heal. It felt good to do it again. You wanna know somethin’ … I’ve lost six pounds. Woo-hoo!!! Well not news to share with you, but I do want to put in a request for your prayer to be extended to a couple of our own, Chris Storey and Shirlene Jensen. Their sweet soul are in need of some more strength to continue to care for their love one that are suffering from dementia or Alzheimer. Folks, please add them to your prayers and their love one who’s suffering. Thanks for doing so, it’s greatly appreciated. Again Happy Father’s Day for you fathers, grandfathers and soon-to-be fathers. Have a great weekend. Matt Friend -- *Matthew D. 3. Clark checking in. Not much activity this month. Putting down 2 tons of flagstone in the south end of the yard, and re surfacing 600 sq ft of deck with two bunks of redwood and building a 14X13 Pergola. We be finished now though, so back to the computer. That is not to say the Honey-Do list completely disappeared. Installed two new bathroom fans today. VR. Thank you, The USGenWeb Election Committee Also, for those who are not on our IDGenWeb Facebook, we seems to be getting many good discussions and links. One I would like to share with you is about the Old Bonner County Poor Farm ( http://www.poorhousestory.com/poorhouses_in_idaho.htm). This is very interesting history, yet it a part of our history we often don't think about what our ancestor had gone through in their lives. Did ya'll know that genealogy got started by an American historian named John Farmer from Massachuetts. Read this interesting article about it ... http://www.gvnews.com/lifestyle/genealogy-today-genealogy-s-roots-it-all-began-when/article_f1017866-a69a-11e1-ac10-001a4bcf887a.html . Well, don't forget to share what you have done to your website and what successes you are getting from it. Thanks Reba for sharing your work of adding the 1940 U.S. Census to your website. It is great that we would add some interesting piece of our American history to our websites. All is well, in my neck of the woods while my wife is slowly recovering. She still not herself yet but I think it will take time. Thanks to those who sent their prayers and well-wishes. It is greatly appreciated. I am now on the run-down leg of my graduate term and have another research essay to complete. I think that before the summer over I will got back to the traditional college setting rather than doing these online classes. It seems to take too much time to work on. Where if go to the classroom I can at least take part in some normal "verbal" discussion rather than online discussions from something I have read that week (which is one whole book in most cases). Sorry I don't read that fast anymore since my blindness does scan words the quickly anymore. LOL. Have a great weekend ya'll, Matt Friend -- *Matthew D.
