Matthew, I've been doing that for years with boxes of "junk" no one else thought was interesting to keep of our past family members. I've found a wealth of information in letters, address books, calendars, pocket reminders, news clippings and much, much more. Even old drivers licenses, work badges, club membership cards; the list goes on and on. Now I have a name for these priceless items. Thanks for this little bit of information. Interesting abt. the burial outside of the cemetery. In the Sweet cemetery in Gem Co. there are two outside of the cemetery. One was killed in a gun fight. Sweet historians have yet to determine why the 2nd fellow was buried where he was. re: ephemera - Both of my grandmothers' old postcard collections have given me insights into family history, especially with my miner-grandfather, who moved frequently. I recently joined Flickr because of the extensive vintage postcard postings & I was thinking this afternoon that it might be a good idea to post one labeled "ferry to Canada" in the hopes that someone might recognize the place. So it's your job to make yourself known to me, personally, or to this list. It's up to you. I'm glad to have all of your guys on my team. You're a great bunch. I hope ya'll will continue to serve your county well and make your patrons proud of your hard work. Anyway, I'll start by saying that IDGenWeb doing well and I'm checking in for Ada and Blaine counties. Sherri Bradley, our National Coordinator for the USGenWeb Project was contacted last fall by a reporter from the "Farmer's Almanac" for an interview about online genealogical research. The article got published recently for the "Farmer's Almanac 2013" edition, called "Digging Up Roots" (URL: http://www.farmersalmanac.com/home-garden/2012/10/29/digging-up-roots/). It's uncertain how long this link will be up but it's a great source to share with your patrons on your county's website(s) and other places too. The link will also be placed on th USGenWeb Project website to be shared with our volunteers and researchers alike. Thanks to Farmer's Almanac (URL: http:farmersalmanac.com/) for recognizing USGenWeb and its volunteers for being the continributing cause for fre access to genealogical research. Sherri Bradley extended her wishes to ya'll ... "Thanks to EVERYONE that works to make the USGenWeb Project what it is!" "Hear-Hear!!! Idahoans!" Thanks for making IDGenWeb Project a part of who you are VOLUNTEERS! That's what makes our GenWeb projects so great. I hope everyone had a great past month. I would like to hear what you had done for our "Family History Month" that made a different in our genealogical society. As for me, I would like to say that I've added some stuff on some of my county's projects. Well, fall is surely here in Arkansas, though the cold is setting in nicely. We've had some freezing temperatures but nothing like bundling up in the early morning run. That was such a fun morning for me. It felt great. All is well, in my neck of the woods. My family are doing good considering. My wife is still trying to recover from her earlier unexpected illness but she has her good days and down days. Of course, it helped to get a new bed to sleep in to help the recovery. Our last bed was a bit lumpy-bumpy and spring-pinching uncomfortable. Had anyone felt that way with your bed before? LOL We finally decided on a "Select Comfort" bed. AAaaahh!!! Sweet dreams. Alright, enough of me! I'm sure you are giggling at my nonsense here. I have gotten one patron's request to help her find a birth mother that connected to her husband's adoption. The woman went to Fort Worth, Texas to have a baby born on January 1, 1973. Recently, she got a hold of the original birth certificate that basically states the birth mother's name is Patricia Gayle Johnson, birthplace in Idaho and aged at the time of her child birth, 19. Given only this much information. It showed that she lived at a certain address in Texas but it's unknown whom she was living with until the birth of her baby boy. So the patron is hoping to find out more about this birth mother. Sorry all she has is the general birth place of Idaho. No county or city or town. Do you think we can help her out. She would have been born sometime in 1953-54. I've connected the ISHS to see if they have any of those birth records from that time periods, since I heard they inherited some of them from the state government. From my own looking around, the woman has already placed ads on some of the national adoption registry. Can you guys check around for this patrons, perhaps for some high school yearbook about 1970-72. Maybe if there's some college yearbook for 1972? Well, I would love to hear from everyone this month. I hope ya'll are ready for the upcoming holiday---Thanksgiving Day. What your plans this year? Oh! Please extend some good thoughts and prayers to those effected by the "Superstorm Sandy" in NYC and NJ and don't forget to extend personal prayers for some of our own team members. We've heard about some of them already but it's nice to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Well, have a great month, Idahoans. One thing also is that according to law all addoption records are sealed by law!The only way they can be opened is if it is agreed upon by and both parties want it opened! My son-in-law was in the same position and wanted to know information on his birth mother and luckily she agreed! The lawyers involved can not make it public nor can the court! The actually record will be stored in the files at the court house where adoption took place! As I earlier said there is a marriage record for a patricia gayle johnson in nevada for the fall of same year of birth of baby and it states she is from idaho! Good luck everyone on this! I believe that Patricia's family may have actually been from Texas and that is a more likely reason of why she left after she had the baby. Just think... Unless you were sent away by your family to a remote state that had a girls home for teens who were pregnant. Then I can see her going to Idaho. But I think she was from Texas and she had embarrassed her family with her pregnancy and she left to Idaho afterwards to get away from the shame of it all. Both plausible situations... Since the baby was in Foster Care ... there would be state records for the child and who the mother is. Lawyer records would have his last communications with Patricia concerning the adoption letting her know that it had taken place... and since she was in Idaho at the time... he would have had to have the address of her place in Idaho. Too many variables. They need to find the records of the lawyer... ~Kelly... Can you look up the obit for the attorney that took care of their case? It should say in his obit what happened to his practice... most times they sell it to another lawyer and transfer all the files to the new attorney. We need to find that out. P.S. Are you saying that the family was or was not Black? On Thu, Nov 1, 2012 at 7:49 AM, Matthew D. Friend < [email protected]> wrote: > Hey Kelly, no problem. Just relax here. Payette County Up & Running. Still working on our yearbook project. The 1952-1954 yearbooks (Harmon Killebrew's years) had all been stolen from the library, high school and museum. We tracked down some copies from our patrons and I'm working with the high school to have them scanned, indexed and put on our website. A real team effort. We appreciate all the help! Kerrie

Clark is on the road in Texas so nothing going on back home. Visited a ranch near Austin my GGGrandfather bought in 1863 after immigrating into Houston. Orig cabin he built still there.
