What I've seen is usually off-site maintained site, where the coordinator might be disgruntaled or something. Not too sure, but apparantly, Common Sense is dead. Tim</HTML>
As is Alabama getting strong support. So for the record, I vote yes Tim "PITA" Harper Benewah, Latah & Nez Perce County Coordinator, IDGenWeb Project</HTML>
Like someone else said I always thought we were required to have the USGenWeb logo on out main page and a link to them. I find it hard to believe that a person who spends the time building a website for a county with all the logos and other requirements, would link the logo to porn site. But then I guess I don't understand the way the world works any more. Each year ideas, motions, requirements are brought up, and most of the time they fail. I don't quite understand this either if everyone is interested in the best interest of the GenWeb. My two cents worth. Keep the amendment short and maybe people will support it, I will. I don't have a problem with this amendment, tho it is a sad commentary that we have to make these kinds of amendments on our sites, or any site for that matter. There are a few individuals who get a kick out of tweaking fellow project members noses. I'm aware of half a dozen websites created by USGENWEB members over the years who felt it was their responsibility to find what they considered abuses within USGENWEB and make sure other folks knew about them. A good many of these dealt with personality conflicts between individuals with strong personalities. These websites ranged from entertaining to almost obscene. Free speech is alive and well on the Internet, and anyone can post just about anything they want. But as a project, focused on trying to accomplish and promote positive things, we do not have to allow links to these critical sites from our sites. Whether or not this bylaw amendment passes, if such an abuse of linking from the USGENWEB or IDGENWEB logo occurred within IDGENWEB, I would insist it be removed and if not removed I would dismiss that Coordinator from membership in our project. But I believe the amendment might be helpful within those states where project member abuses like this have occurred. I don't think we have had, or will have, incidents like this within the Idaho project. But we might be able to lend a little help to other states by sponsoring this amendment. I will only do that if a majority of you support the idea.
