Hello Chris, This is Matt Friend. I was reviewing county sites in Central Idaho. All yours were great, except I thought we moved ALL of your counties to the BlueHost server. I found Jerome and Twin Falls not on our server. (Jane--was I suppose to move these when you did Chris other sites?) Chris do you still wish to have those moved? If I was suppose to do that, then I apologize here as I probably got very side-stracked. Let me know. Matt *Matthew D. Hello Kerrie, On Payette site you need to correct this title line: Welcome to the Payette County *Idaho GenWeb Project* We are not "Idaho GenWeb Project" but "The IDGenWeb Project". I suggest you revise this line to comply to the proper manner. Perhaps this will work too: Welcome to the Payette County, Idaho a part of the IDGenWeb Project or delete that bottom line. The reason I'm asking of this correction. It's a part of our registered trademark through USGenWeb Project and all its STates XXGenWeb Project. The name "GenWeb" is someone elses registered trademark some software company. Please revise. Thank you, Matt Friend State Coordinator The IDGenWeb Project *Matthew D. Hello Reba, This is Matt Friend. I need to you correct this please: Top Title: Boise County, Idaho GenWeb Project (it should read IDGenWeb Project or delete this line) At the end a link that states: "Idaho GenWeb" it should be The IDGenWeb Project. We must use the correct form because its a registered trademark through USGenWeb and all its States XXGenWeb. The wording "GenWeb" is someone elses trademark some software company. Hello Virginia, This is Matt Friend. I need you to make some correction on wording of the IDGenWeb. Title line: Welcome to the Canyon County, Idaho GenWeb Project! And in several places on this page with same issue. My suggestion to you is to remove the "GenWeb Project" part or you need to write it like this: Welcome to Canyon County IDGenWeb Project! In several other places is much the same "Idaho GenWeb Project". We go by The IDGenWeb Project because is a part of the USGenWeb Project's registered trademark. "GenWeb" is someone elses registered trademark some software company. Please make this changes. I know this page was originally designed by Sharon McConnel and I should have asked her to change thos years ago. Thank you, Matt Friend State Coordinator The IDGenWeb Project *Matthew D. Hello Vikki, This is Matt Friend. I've been looking through some of the eastern side of Idaho's counties, and in Elmore County I need for your to make some correction to a salutation line. *WELCOME TO ELMORE COUNTY, IDAHO GENWEB PROJECT* The correct use of wording is IDGenWeb Project. Perhaps I might suggest you leave out the "GenWeb Project" and still getting the point of where your patrons are. This just have to do with our registered trademark of USGenWeb Project and all its States associated with it XXGenWeb, ex. IDGenWeb Project. Thank Natalie! Yes, it was mentioned on our State mailing list, and our NC is trying to keep our identity proper, based on Trademark issues, but otherwise when you do a search engine on any of those sites, using "GenWeb" ALL links mainly direct to any of the USGenWeb projects AND WorldGenWeb projects. Its because of the word within the entire phrase. The software company that originally registered "GenWeb" haven't let it go even though today they have a different name with their company. Thank you for updating it, Natalie. Matt *Matthew D. Emmett, like every other town in Idaho, has changed considerably in the past 85 yrs. Mary Secor Hospital sat at the corner of 2nd & Washington & that site is now the city fire station. Walter Knox Hospital was built in abt. the '70's & within the past year has been re-named Valor Health Wardwell School, which was across the street, see plat http://www.gem.idgenweb.org/albm_emmettplat.html was torn down in the '60's. The local museum will have photos & they are open W-Sa. Is he still in contact with Meg? In 1931 when Grace Coffey died, Boise Cascade Sawmill would have been the primary employer. By 1935, Andy Little was dubbed "The Idaho Sheep King," and was considered the largest sheep operator in Idaho and one of the largest in the nation, so he was at his peak. The orchards would have also been at their height. Even the roads have changed. The present-day Hwy 16 route was constructed in the '60's. Interesting that this man is in Andorra & that there is a large Basque community in Boise and to some extent Emmett. Did you see my page on the Main St. ghost signs which links to the museum's walking tour - http://www.gem.idgenweb.org/albm-MainSt-signs.html ? Or page on historical register? http://www.gem.idgenweb.org/history-register.html - The churches & depot would have all been there. Thank you Sharon for this information. The Coffey & Cast families came to Idaho in the early teens of the 20th century from Georgia and other parts of the South. They were NOT of Basque heritage because this patron's father youth or informant years were spent in Gem, Elmore and Fremont counites. After the death of the patron's grandmother in 1931, the grandfather tried to care for his family but failed and sent all four of his children to the Boise's Children's Home (abt. 1933), and then within a two year period the two girls were adopted by a Dr. & his wife over in Jerome County and shortly after that the baby brother was adopted and moved away near the same area or nearby counties leaving this patron's father alone and troubled. Apparently, this patron's father had been living with nightmares of his mother's death as she died from the cause of full body fire burns, some two or three days after it happened, and feeling neglected by his own father. So this little boy had nightmares about it all through his life, it seems. He lived a troubled life. After a family over in Elmore County adopted him, he continued his troubled life. Eventually, the couple that adopted him soon were having a troubled marriage and separated and divorced. This boy was sent back to the Children's Home, and then somehow the lady that adopted him found another family in the same area to continued to raise him. He went back to the area but kept thinking the adopted father was going to get him back, as he got attached to him, but it never happened. Anger built and he somehow stolen or bought a gun from some broker who sold used stuff. The other family who took him in eventually found this gun, and the social worker was contacted by this family and make this patron's father return the gun and than took him into the Children's Home once again where a judge decided to send him to the Idaho's Industrial School for over six months before he got himself into trouble once again by stealling a car from the school parking lot. The local judge decided to sent him into the Army and he was enlisted at the age of 16 1/2 years old in Portland. Towards the end of the war he again got into trouble but don't know if they proved anything as I couldn't find any record of it. However, after a dishonorable discharge. His life continue to be troubled with the law in California and spent nearly 17 years in prison. After he left the prison, he changed his name and a few years later he left Untied States and eventually ended up in Adorra. There he found alove to an Spaniard born woman and they had only one child, his son. So this is where the son wanted to know about his father's life, considering he never learn any of it while growing up. The patron's father's birth certificate showed no hosiptal or location of birth, except for he was born in Emmett. And as for the schooling he might have been one or two years there but nothing more extensive until after going to the children's home and other places. Thank again, Matt *Matthew D. I check the birth certificate and it has no hospital listed nor the doctor who might have deliver him. So I'm thinkig that he might have been born at home with someone helping with the delivering. I just need someone to help our patron to get to the Boise Children's Home. If you have time about October 28. Matt *Matthew D.
