Meek, 87, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2007, at the Sunshine Terrace Rehabilitation Center in Logan, Utah. He was born in Riverdale,Idaho, Feb. 20, 1920, to Benjamin Antone and Grace Olivia Bishop Meek. Ariel lived 87-plus fruitful years on the ranch/ farm in Riverdale where he was born. He graduated from Preston High School, in Preston, Idaho. He married Barbara Swensen June 1, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. Ariel was a member of the LDS Church and greatly enjoyed his many assignments for service therein. Ariel and Barbara served as officiators in the Logan Temple for more than a decade, delighting in their "Temple Family" and associations gained there. Ariel enjoyed serving in the community as well. He was known as a humble, wise and patient husband, father and leader, one who showed great respect for his parents and heritage. He will be remembered as a hard worker with a love of nature and his fellow man. He was one who delighted in teaching his children and grandchildren of the blessings given by a loving Heavenly Father through the creations around us. Ariel is survived by his brother, Wilford B. (Carma Scow) Meek, and a sister, Lucille Meek Larsen (Dennis), three children; Stephen A. (Madge Gilbert) Meek, Tamera (Grant) Wood, Sheryl (Hal) Molitor, and 41 grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, four brothers, Raymond, Arthur, Richard and Earl, and a sister, Jean Marie. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State, Preston, with Bishop John Higley conducting. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston. and Friday from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Riverdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund.
