He was born July 12, 1950, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Robert John and Lavene Stone Cole. Jim grew up in Preston and spent a lot of time in his younger years on his grandpa's farm in Cub River. He graduated from Preston High School. On April 30, 1971, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Kaydawn Jepsen, in Mink Creek, Idaho. Together they raised three daughters. He served in the Navy for seven and a half years, stationed in Long Beach, Calif. He was a first class petty officer and served two Western-Pacific tours to Vietnam. Jim was a nuclear reactor operator training specialist and had worked at the INL since 1993. He had also worked for Gulf State Utilities in Texas, Washington Power and 13 years with Texas Utilities, where he helped build and start operations of the power plant. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed golfing, hiking, watching Dallas Cowboys, spending time in Cub River at the old farm, relaxing with his family at home, and loved his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kaydawn, of Blackfoot; daughters, Jaclyn Cole (Chris Furio) of Blackfoot, Jennifer (Nate) Smith of Blackfoot, and Andrea (Scott) Hook of Pocatello; mother, Lavene Cole of Preston; brothers, David (Angie) Cole of Preston and Kerry (Julie) Cole of Arcadia, Calif.; granddaughters, Sydney, Ashlyn, Carlee, and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his father, John Cole. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet with friends and family on Sunday evening, Jan. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery near Preston. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
