She was 89. She was born June 6, 1918, in Smithfield, Utah, the daughter of Robert LeRoy and Alice Done Nelson. She married Morris H. Poole on June 16, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived most of their married life in Whitney, Idaho. Morris passed away in 1983. Rhonda moved to Logan in 1989. Rhonda was a graduate of Utah State Agricultural College (USU). She taught elementary school in Smithfield and was a substitute teacher in the Preston School District. Her community volunteer work included service as a Franklin County (Idaho) Home Demonstration Council member, PTA officer, Daughters of Utah Pioneers (Franklin County) Company Board, and an officer in the Pink Lady Organization at the Preston Hospital. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous positions including Relief Society President of the Whitney Ward, Franklin Stake Relief Society Board and a Franklin Stake Sunday School Board member as the Junior Sunday School Coordinator. In 1982-83 Rhonda and Morris served together as missionaries in the Ireland Dublin Mission. She was also a Logan LDS Temple worker. Rhonda was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, Brigham Young Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Cosmos Club, Pickwick Literary Club and Logan Literary Club. She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Melanie and Spencer Raymond of Logan, Carolyn and Don Petersen of Provo, Nancy and Alan Palmer of Logan, Morris and Dixie Poole of Logan, Robert and Janice Poole of Salt Lake City, Janet and Jerry Hintze of Kaysville, Colleen and Bruce Dibb of Bountiful and Raymond and Janice Poole of Murray. Other survivors include 48 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth N. Meyer of Provo. Preceding her in death were her husband; two grandchildren; brother, Clinton Nelson; and sisters, Ellen N. Webb and Clare Nelson. Services will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Lundstrom Park 1st Ward chapel, 1260 N., 1600 East, Logan, Utah, conducted by Bishop Kenneth Lester. Viewings will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan, Utah, and from 10 to 11 :30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Whitney (Idaho) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund.
