Whitehead, 78, went home on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho, of natural causes. He was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Franklin, Idaho, to John and Pearl Day Whitehead. He married Lorena Yeates and had one child, Mary E. Whitehead. They later divorced and he never remarried. His daughter was the apple of his eye. During his life he served his country during World War II. He worked road construction all over the Western U.S. and built many of the roads we use today. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Racing Association, and the AQHA. He enjoyed dancing, socializing with friends, helping those he came in contact with, but most of all, he enjoyed horses. His goal was to have fast horses, and he did. He was preceded in death by his parents and by six siblings. He is survived by two sisters, Reana Christensen and June (Ross) Rasmussen; by his daughter, Mary; two grandchildren and many friends. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Franklin County Medical Center and Webb Funeral Home for their kindness and care given to him. Memorial services will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
