Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Baird, Bennett, Seamons Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.franklin/2331/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Idaho State Journal, 06/04/08 MINK CREEK - Elmyra Bennett Baird, 85, passed away June 2, 2008, at the Sunshine Terrace Rehabilitation Center in Logan, Utah, following a c o u r a g e o u s battle with diabetes and Periphery Artery Disease. Elmyra was born June 13, 1922, in Mound Valley, Idaho, the youngest of four sisters and six brothers born to Ephraim Arthur and Elva Ann Seamons Bennett. Her father was killed in a threshing accident when she was just eight months old and her mother died when she was nine years old. Consequently, she lived with her older brother and two sisters during her childhood. She married Burnell Hagen Baird on June 26, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple. They settled in Mink Creek, Idaho, and raised four children. Burnell preceded her in death on June 26, 1989. Elmyra was an active member of the Mink Creek LDS Ward and held many church positions including Junior Sunday School Coordinator and Primary President. She and her husband served many years with the Franklin County Chapter of the American Farm Bureau and she was associated for many years with the Franklin County Medical Center Pink Ladies. She is survived by her four children, Richard (Betty) Baird, of Logan, Utah; Ted (Vivian) Baird, of Aurora, Colo.; Judy (Michael) Nelson; Riverdale, Utah; Hal (Sheri) Baird; La Cross, Wis.; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grand-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Afton Forman, of Preston, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Burnell, three sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Mink Creek LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Terry Westerberg conducting. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society or National Breast Cancer Foundation are encouraged.
