She was reunited with her husband and sweetheart of sixty one years, Ferne S. Howell, whom she married in the Logan Temple March 9, 1934. Mother was born March 8, 1912 to William Ferdinand and Francis Caroline Hardwick in Oxford, Idaho as the seventh of nine children, with three brothers and five sisters. During her grade school and high school years, she participated in school plays and musicals and enjoyed singing solos and duets with her sisters and later with her husband while he accompanied with the guitar. Eda had many talents which she shared as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a dance and speech instructor, director of ward plays and musicals, teacher, choir director, and chorister in many organizations. She also directed a pageant in her early married years in Idaho. Music was import! ant and she encouraged her three daughters to study the piano, practice and perform often. Eda loved beautiful things and treasured the years she worked at Felt-Buchorn. She also loved people and enjoyed working with the public at Valora's, Richard's and See's Candy stores for over twenty five years. Mother was a master cook and was known for her generosity in making wonderful meals, pies and excellent candies which she shared with her family, neighbors and friends until her ninety second year. Always a good listener, she brought comfort to many with her positive attitude, cheerful outlook and appreciation of her family. Her life was one of service to others as she cared for family members and her many friends who were ill and in need of her help. She particularly showed devotion in the tender care of her husband, Ferne, who preceded her in death in 1995. Special thanks go to the kind staff at the Canyon Creek Assisted Living Center who in turn cared for mother during the l! ast several years. She is survived by her three daughters, Sherie H. B rimhall (Gale) of Gilbert, Arizona, Connie Le Rae Evans (Charles), and Carol Dawn Warburton (James) of Salt Lake City, with 15 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews from the Hardwick and Howell families. Mother, we celebrate your 96 years of love and service to others. Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing to be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Published in the Deseret News on 6/8/2008.
