Oliverson and Lucy Pearl Lena Olsen Oliverson in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Ray grew up on the family farm in Preston, Idaho. He married Helen Jenkins February 7, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ray served in the Army Air Corps. from 1946-1949. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from BYU. He received a Masters Degree in education from the U of U, but is a true blue cougar. He was a great influence to many young people throughout his career. Wherever he went there was someone who knew him. Ray taught and coached at Jordan and Murray High Schools. Ray was Vice Principal at Murray High, Principal at Riverview Junior High, and Principal at Murray High. He served in many capacities including: President of Utah High School Activities Association, and President of the Secondary School Principals A! ssociation, among others. Ray had a great love for people and his family. He also had a deep love for his Savior and faithfully served as Elders Quorum President, Counselor in the bishopric, on two High Councils, Bishop and temple worker in the LDS Church. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen; sons, Kevin (MarJean), Santa Clara; Kris (Ruth), Shelley, Idaho; Kurt (LoraLee), Sandy; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and four on the way; also survived by brothers and sisters, Glen (Francene), Ethel (H.R. Rockwood), Robert (Esther), Elaine (Orval C. Benson), Gordon (Katheryne). Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Robb; niece, Pamela Oliverson; and nephew, Gordon Maurice Oliverson. Funeral services will be held Sat., June 28, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Midvale Utah LDS Stake Center, 8171 So. Jackson St. (250 W). A visitation for family and friends will be Fri., June 27, 2008, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State Street from 6-8 p.m. and Sat. at the! stake center from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery. DAD, YOU ARE OUR HERO! Published in the Salt Lake Tribune from 6/26/2008 - 6/27/2008.
