She was born September 15, 1919 in Preston, Idaho to Harry and Edna Morgan Burchell. Rose moved to Ogden as a child, on August 14, 1940 she married Joseph Smith Thompson and they moved to Riverdale. Rose was active all of her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions which generally were associated with her wonderful musical ability. She had a wonderful soprano voice and sang in operas at the University of Utah while she was attending school there. She and her father sang at many functions. Rose and her husband sang and they encouraged their children to learn and use their musical talents. She attended Weber College, University of Utah, and finally graduated from Utah State University after giving birth to six children and went to work as a school teacher for 29 years. Her oldest son, David R. Thompson, died November 2, 2007. Her surviving children are Kathryn Rose Coggins, Riverdale; Joseph M. (Roswitha) Thompson, Riverdale; John Burchell Thompson, Woods Cross; Ellen (Greg) Compton, Riverdale; and Stephen L. (Cindy) Thompson, Layton. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Rose will be missed greatly by her family, especially at the summer parties at her home under the pavilion. She was a great cook and showed her love for all of us in that way. She is now in a new life without pain, without infirmity, and also with her family. We love you and will miss you, Mom. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends and family may call at the mortuary Thursday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
