Capener Jay H. Capener, of Boise, passed away on Dec. 16, 2008 at St. Luke's Medical Center. Jay was born in Preston, Idaho on April 5, 1926 to Llewelluyn Capener and Viola Jackson Gunn. In 1944, he and his twin brother, Gene, joined the United States Navy. He served for two years, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Mary "Judy" Modin in June of 1950. They had four children and later divorced. In 1956, Jay built and opened J's Drive-In in Parma, Idaho. He married Delora Thomas Tanner on Sept. 21, 1963. This marriage was later solemnized on June 8, 1973 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Throughout their life they moved to Arizona, Utah, and in the Little Salmon River area (which was their heaven on earth) before returning to the Treasure Valley. Jay was an avid sports fan and a fixture at Middleton High games. He is survived by sons, Larry (Sheila) Capener, Brad (Patty) Capener; his step-daughter, Maureen (Jim) Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; an! d one great-great-grandchild. He is also suvived by his brother, Richard Capener; and two sisters, Mrs. Reed (Pat) Dowdle, and Mrs. John (Helen) Batis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delora; two children, Neal and Janelle; and his twin brother, Gene. Funeral services will be held Dec. 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel, 5900 Castle Drive. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at the Middleton Cemetery.
