Viola was born October 7, 1914 in Treasureton, Idaho to Carl Axel Gustafson and Anna Carolina Kvistberg Gustafson. She attended schools in Treasureton and Preston, Idaho and Salt Lake City. She received her Associate Degree in Accounting. Viola married Harvey Cole in Preston, Idaho in 1932; they later divorced. She married Gomer G. Stephens February 8, 1945, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1976. He passed away in 1982. She married George Stewart Gilbert in 1986 in Salt Lake City. Stewart passed away in 1992. Viola later married Rulon D. Hogan in 1993, Rulon passed away in 2001. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and held many positions over the years. She was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed having family get-togethers for her children, step-children and brothers and sisters. She loved to dance and travel; she had many ! opportunities to enjoy both. Viola is survived by her loving children, Alfred (Miriam) Cole, Glenda (Gary) Logan, Dallas (JoAnn) Cole, Gloria Stephens (Wayne) Gardner and R. Brent Stephens; 13 grand-children; 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Patsy (Brad) Peterson, Mary Ann (Bill) Embry, Laurel (Richard) Young, Nancy (Rollin) Brown, Janette (Russ) Minson, Lynn Gilbert and Dennis (Carolyn) Gilbert. She is preceded in death by her four husbands; parents; four brothers; four sisters; grandson and daughter-in-law. Funeral Services will be held Thurs., May 8, 2008 at 12 Noon at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 W. 4100 S., West Valley City, Utah. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service Thursday. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. Published in the Deseret News from 5/6/2008 - 5/7/2008.
