He was born Sept. 27, 1928, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Edgar Foster and Doris Phillips Burnett. He met the love of his life, Vynette Nelson, in San Francisco and knew right away he would marry her. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 21, 1964. His work in construction management took him to many parts of the world. Besides various locations in the U.S., he worked in Viet Nam, Labrador, Canada, Iran, The Netherlands, and Guam. With courage and intellect and a sense of adventure, Al traveled the world - often with his family in tow. He traveled to China, Japan, Russia, most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand to name a few. He especially enjoyed sampling the cuisine of different countries and meeting the people. He provided his family with a priceless education in life and all its possibilities. When he retired, he relocated one last time to his wife's home in Dayton, Idaho. There they bought a motor home and traveled around the U.S. doing festivals and fairs - selling mostly products they had found in their travels. He and Vynette enjoyed being a part of the small community of Dayton. He did much work in genealogy and temple work. Also, fishing was an important part of his life, and he went as often as possible. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Vynette, of Dayton; a son, Michael (Rebecca) Burnett of Lewiston, Utah; a daughter, Melinda White of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Sheila Duffy of Hartford, Conn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 17, 2008, in the Dayton Ward chapel with Bishop Troy Moser conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.webbmortuary.com. Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 5/13/2008 - 5/27/2008.
