He was born June 5, 1918, in Cove, Utah, to Myron Peck and Neta Kingsford Preece. Myron has two daughters, Rosalee (Ron) Martel of Canyon Lake, Calif., and Linda (Rich) Mitchell of Riverton, Wyo. He also has four granddaughters. Myron's father died at the age of 29, so at the age of 9, Myron became the bread winner for his four younger siblings: George, who was killed in WWII; Orlando (Dick); Teresa Jackson; and Barbara Rodriguez, who passed away earlier this year. He milked cows, tromped hay and did any odd job he could find. At age 18, Myron joined the CCC Camp and then joined the Army in 1941. After serving in WWII, Myron married Ellen Carlson of Preston, Idaho, on Jan. 9, 1948, and was employed at Cache Valley Dairy in Amalga, where he worked as the chief engineer until his retirement in 1980. Myron was a master craftsman and was considered the top welder in Cache Valley. Ellen passed away in 1996 and is buried in Preston Cemetery. He has since been married to Vella Thompson Sparks for the last 12 years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in the Preston 3rd/7th/10th Ward Chapel, 155 N. Second West, Preston, with Bishop Jason Travis of the Preston 6th Ward conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, also at the church. Military rites and interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
