She was born November 20, 1929, in Logan, Utah, a daughter of John Francis and Ardella Bell Smith Griffiths. Trudy spent her childhood in Logan, attending local schools. On June 1, 1948, she married Ernest A. Garrett in the Logan LDS Temple. They resided in Logan while Ernie finished his degree at Utah State University, then the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho. They later moved their growing family to Marsh Creek near McCammon, Idaho. From there, Ernie and Trudy moved to Grace, Idaho, then to Preston, Idaho. They lived in Preston until Ernie died in November of 1999. Gertrude went to live in Ogden, Utah, with her son, Richard, and family. Trudy later moved into Pioneer Valley Lodge Living Center in Logan, Utah, and then moved into Legacy Assisted Living Center in West Jordan, Utah. She is survived by her younger sister, Gloria Erickson of Seattle, Wash.; and her 10 children, Karen and Cliff Wells, Woodland, Wash., Steven and Janet Garrett, Pocatello, Idaho, John and Shelley Garrett, Sandy, Utah, Richard and Donna Garrett, North Ogden, Utah, Bonnie and Paul Gibbons, Kearns, Utah, Mike and Sheila Garrett, Inkom, Idaho, Tim Garrett, Gillette, Wyo., Jeff and Teresa Garrett, Pasco, Wash., Ann and Greg Batty, Logan, Utah, Kathleen and Stan Williams, Wenatchee, Wash. Gertrude and Ernest were grandparents to 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, and her younger brother, Robert (Bud) Griffiths. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., North Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in Restlawn cemetery, 2864 S. Fifth Avenue in Pocatello, Idaho, at approximately 1:30 Saturday afternoon.
