She was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Leamington, Utah, the daughter of Don Carlos and Leta Mae Overson Cheel. She married Marvin Garth Bell and together they raised six children in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced, and he passed away in 1986. She married Ralph Simpson, and he preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Howard Jackson, who she married in 1972. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In Friday Harbour, Wash., after her retirement, she loved to sing and was a member of the group "Sweet Adelines". She was very musically talented and enjoyed attending many jazz festivals. She was a good neighbor and always helpful to others. She is survived by three sons and two daughers, Marvin Rex (Yevonne) Bell of Great Falls, Mont., Jolene F. (Brent) Porter of Franklin, Idaho, Shauna Lynn (Brent) Barton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Martin Dee Bell of Salt Lake City, Utah, David R. (Vicki) Bell of Salt Lake City, Utah; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Afton (Theron) Yates of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry J. Bell; three husbands; one brother; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, in the Preston Seventh Ward Chapel, 155 N. 2nd West, Preston, with President Ted Taylor of the Legacy 3rd Branch conducting. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday, May 5, 2008, in the Friday Harbor, Wash., Cemetery.
