He was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Clarkston, Utah, to Jesse William Griffiths and Bertha Loretta Olsen. He attended grade school through high school in Weston, Idaho. He obtained his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Force during WW II. Jesse worked as an engineer for GE, for INEL on a submarine project, and also a farm project in Idaho. He has lived in Schenectady, N.Y., Richland, Wash., Moreland, Idaho, and Logan, Utah. He married Norma Weight in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 15, 1947. They were blessed with six children. He was active in the Rotary Club and served on the Library Board. Jesse enjoyed reading, writing, music and learning. He was also artistic and an inventor. But most of all, he loved spending time enjoying his family. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Elders Quorum president, branch president, High Priest instructor and home teacher. He and his wife, Norma, served a mission in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. Jesse is survived by his wife, Norma; his children: Kristi (Gaylon) Heiner, Bedford, Wyo., Gareth (Joanne) Griffiths, Preston, Idaho, Mark (Gay) Griffiths, Cascade, Mont., Lee (Lisa) Griffiths, Hyde Park, Utah, Laura (Charles) Zisette, Radford, Va., Paul (Missy) Griffiths, Madison, Ala.; 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Loretta Taylor, Rhea Godfrey and Bonnie Erickson; and brothers, Reed and Michael Griffiths. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elaine Dewey and Kathleen Loosle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Logan 9th Ward Chapel, 125 E. 500 North. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the church prior to services.
