He was born July 12, 1916, in Avon, Utah, to James Richard Rawlings and Florence I. Rawlings. He married Ruth Bingham on March 28, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. Theron served an LDS mission in the Eastern Central States Mission with headquarters in Louisville, Ky. He loved memorizing scriptures and poems and enjoyed reciting them for friends and family throughout his life. He was very proud of his eight children. His three passions were his family, church, and farm. He operated a dairy farm in Fairview, Idaho, and won the Franklin County Grassman of the Year Award for his innovative farming. Theron loved the gospel and was instrumental in converting and activating many people during his life. He was in the Seventies Quorum for 17 years and was then made a High Priest. He and his wife served a mission in Cloquet, Minnesota, and were temple workers in the Logan and Ogden Temples. He is survived by his children: Mark (Wendy) Rawlings, Gig Harbor, WA; Elaine Rawlings, surviving spouse of Jay Rawlings, American Fork, UT; Illene (Theral) Nielsen, Bountiful, UT; Delbert (Ann) Rawlings, Preston, ID; Glade (Georgia) Rawlings, Logan, UT; Howard (Jeannette) Rawlings, McCook, NE; Theon (Stacy) Rawlings, Pleasant View, UT; James (Roxanne) Rawlings, Riverton, UT; his sister, Della Jones, and brother, Darwin Rawlings; 45 grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren. Theron was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, who died April 9, 2006, and his son, Jay, who died in 1982. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Preston 3rd Ward, 155 N. 200 West, Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Leonard Ward conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Webb Funeral Home and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church for the viewing. Burial will be at the Preston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the general LDS missionary fund. Published in the Logan Herald Journal from 3/15/2008 - 3/29/2008.
